Ever since I had been a little girl, I had wanted to get my belly button pierced. When I was in grade nine, I asked my mom and she said to ask my dad. But, my dad is very against body piercings and he said that he didnt want to make the decision for me, and that I had to wait until I was 18. Well that just wasn't going to work for me :D
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When A week ago Later on in the year, I asked them again. My mom said yes, as long as I kept my grades up, and that we had to convince my dad. Well..my grades didnt exactly stay that high, and I had forgotten about our deal for awhile. I still wanted to have it done, I just didn't think that my mom would go for it, and I could almost guarantee that my dad wouldn't.
When I was 15, I was looking forward to my 16th birthday, because most piercing places will do it without a parent's signature when you're 16. Well, my 16th came and was gone before I knew it. Two monthes later, I decided that it was time. I even had my mom AND my dad's consent. My mom drove me and a friend in, and we hung out at her work until 1:30. She then drove us across town, and had us there for 2. My mom signed the form (this place you had to be 18) and went back to work. I was so incredibly nervous. The night before, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat that morning. The piercing place smelt like sanitizer, and I could hear the buzz of a tattoo needle. I started to feel nauseous. When my piercer was finished cleaning up, she called me in. I was so nervous that when she asked what my favorite color was, I started stammering..my friend looked at me and was like "piiiink..". My piercer laughed at me, and helped me pick a barbell that would match my skin tone.
She started drawing the dots while I stood beside the little doctor's bed thing. My friend looked over at me and said "You look like you're gonig to cry" "I am.." I said. haha I didn't cry though! haha And then I laid down on the bed, closed my eyes and squeezed her hand. I don't remember much, because I was so out of it, but I remember going "owie owie owie" and holding her hand...haha when I was done my piercer said to just lay down for awhile, because I looked pale. When I got up, I had a cute little blue barbell (pink didn't match my skin,...haha) and I was returning to my normal state of mind.
I was told to clean it with Bactine two-three times a day. She also recommended Dragon Mist, but her last shipment had been broken, and she didn't have any to sell me. So I bought Bactine from the drug store. (Quick note-I wouldn't recommend Bactine. Epsom Salts worked fairly well, as does the Dragon Mist). Well, it turned out that I was getting hives all along my stomach and my back. My piercing also looked a little infected. I phoned my piercer back (to book my free checkup) and told her about the hives. She said that I was most likely allergic to the Bactine, and to stop using it. So, I stopped using it, and cleaned with Epsom Salts once daily. My hives went away, and my piercing started to dry away the infection (that turned out to be non-existant). The "infection" was my body's way of reacting. When I went back, she gave me Dragon Mist, and I clean with it twice daily. It seems to be healing way better now. I DO NOT recommend Bactine. It has a numbing agent in it, and I think that's what I was allergic to. It's not made for cleaning piercings. Use dragon mist or epsom salts. (Dragon Mist contains tea tree oil). I was also told to leave my barbell in for four months (I'd heard 6 weeks..but that's okay).
I am seriously the biggest wuss ever, and I read about a million of these stories, trying to find out if it would hurt that bad. Well I will tell you honestly, it feels like a big pinch, and then pressure. You can stand it. It hurts but not more then prolly alot of other things you've experienced. I would totally recommend it. Now I want to get my tongue pierced, but I'm worried about the pain on THAT one!! haha But my dad also said that if he agreed, no more "perforations" in my body. But he doesn't have to see it... haha feel free to message me, and if you have any hints or tips about tongue, message me!
