Ok, so let me start off by saying that I have wanted my belly button pierced since I was in 7th grade. My parents have both said, "no, you are too young" or, "no, getting your belly button pierced means that you are a slut." That is all they would say. I asked all the time every year and I would still get the same reply, "no". I was so aggravated that my freshman year of high school I just left them alone. I thought that if I would just stop talking about it and then maybe they would change their minds. When if I asked my mom again she said not till if I am 16, which wouldn't be until the end of July. The only problem with that is that I am a cheerleader at my high school and one of the rules to cheerleading is that you must remove all jewelry and believe me, even if you hid it our coach would find out and either make you take it out or sit for the practice.

So, it was about January of this year (my sophomore year of high school). I just got my report card and found out that I have made general honors for both 1st and 2nd term. I told my mom and my sister and was like " mom, can I please get my belly button pierced...it's not a big deal and you know that I have wanted it for years". My sister then said " yea mom there's no big deal to it its just a piercing and she cant go showing it off in school anyways". My mom said she would think about it.

So I waited and the next morning my mom was taking me to school and she said that she had talked to my dad and they said I can get it pierced but I have to be responsible about it and I have to wait till after cheerleading tryouts which were Feb. 18th (Friday). I said ok.

I told my friend and she had wanted to get it done to so we planned to go together. I had researched so much on how to clean it and take care of it that my boyfriend got sick of me talking about it. Well tryouts came and past and I still hadn't found a place... until I asked one of my cheerleading captains and she said she had heard a lot of good reports about Underworld Tattoo's in New Britain, CT. so I called and figured out that you needed only a parent to be with you and it was going to cost $45. So we were going to go that Sunday the 20th of march but it was closed so we had decided to all go (my mom, me, my friend Jessica, and her mom, and my bf) to go on Monday when Jessica's mom got out of work at 5:30pm.

Jessica and me were scared the entire day. When we finally got there, it was extremely clean with only one room where they do piercing and tattoos. I was initially going to go first but I chickened out so I had Jess go first. She got cleaned and marked then had to lie down on this flat cushioned table. She had to lie really still and she squeezed my hand. She kept laughing nervously so it took the piercer (never got his name but he does all piercings there) a while to actually pierce her since she wouldn't stay still. When the needle went through her, she screamed,"Ow oh my God, Brittany that hurts so much ow oh my god. Don't get it pierced!!" but then she wouldn't stand up so I picked her up and she was ok.

Then it was finally my turn. After I saw jess get hers done I wasn't that scared (even though I am petrified of even just getting my finger pricked at the doctors and cry!) so he cleaned off my stomach and marked me and made me lie down on the table. By then I had everyone in the room with me so they could all watch and I held on to dear life with Travis's (my boyfriend's) hand. He clamped me which did not hurt at all and put a cork on the top of my belly button. I looked straight up at the ceiling the whole time and kept breathing in and out. Then the piercer goes, "ok now breath in and out" and then he pierced me. I got so freaked out, that I said out loud "mother fuc." and stopped my self from finishing it. Then I got freaked out from the needle going thorugh me, and I started to cry. Big baby me! But honestly I stood up and was like "why did I cry, it didn't even really hurt!" all you feel is a little pinch. I got a clear gem on top and bottom and jess got a light blue gem on the top and bottom. The piercer told us directions on how to clean it and we were done. Then we drove down to Stop and Shop to get sea salt and antibacterial non-scented soap.

It has now been less than 24 hours. We got it pierced at about 6:30 pm last night (march 21st 2005) and it is now March 22 about 5:50 pm. It is kind of sore. I wore a baggy long sleeve but kept having to lift my shirt up because it got agitated. I cleaned it with sea salt this morning and after school and I am going to before I go to bed. This morning when I took my shower, it hurt to use dial soap because I got the soap in a bar form not the liquid form and i had to rub it on a wet q-tip and it stung a lot! It is kind of sore when I sit down and when I walk or bend down. It feels like a small little bee keeps stinging you. But other than that it was the coolest experience I have ever went through and if you want to get it pierced I would say go for it even if you are scared of needles because in the long wrong your are going to look so sexy and hot with it!!

Love, Brittany

P.S. Here are a few things to make sure you do:

*make sure that you get sea salt. For instance I got this huge blue bottle that has a blue whale on the front. Make sure it is iodine free!

*Also make sure that you eat before you get it pierced because I didn't and I got really nauseous (but luckily they had little candy machines there!)

*Also make sure you wear loose clothing

*Finally, if you need to ask me any questions, don't be afraid to IM or e-mail me!
