Like a lot of other people on here, I've wanted to get my navel pierced since I was about 11. I had just started seeing people with theirs, and I thought they just looked so cute. So I asked my parents every year, and of course they said "No, wait until you're 18". So I stopped asking until about a week before my 16th birthday. I had done a lot of research online by reading stories on here and looking on some forums. I knew all the proper aftercare and then on my 16th birthday, my dad finally said I could get it done! I was so excited.

We decided that I could go on Wednesday, March 2nd. All day through school that's all I could think about. My dad came home from work around 6 and we went and picked up my boyfriend. I had to eat Saltines on the way because if I don't eat right before, I black out. So I made sure I ate even though I was so nervous and not in the mood to be eating at all. So we drove to Eternal Images in Milford, since I had gotten my second cartilage pierced there and they were very good and helped me with any questions that I had. So I went in and I told them that I was there to get my navel pierced. He gave me some papers to fill out.

Then the actually pierce asked me if I wanted a ring or a barbell, and I picked a barbell. I chose a barbell because I was scared of the ring being ripped out of my stomach, even though I had heard that the rings were easier to clean. So I followed him into the back and he told me to lay down in this dentist type chair. Then he cleaned off my stomach and he made two little dots. He told me to get up look in the mirror to see if I liked where it would go. It was perfect! I told him it looked good and then I laid back down. He measure the distance of the dots to make sure that it wasn't too long, and it was just by a little bit. So he made the dot a little father down.

Then he took out the clamp, and I was pretty nervous because I had heard that the clamp hurt more than the actual piercing. But in my opinion, it wasn't bad AT ALL. So then he took the needle and by this point I was so nervous. He must have noticed that I was because he asked me if I needed another minute. I thought that if I had another minute I would end up backing out, which I would've regretted so much. So I looked away and he told me to breathe in...breathe out...and when I breathed in again he stuck the needle through from top to bottom. It was not nearly as bad as I had expected! It hurt the most when he first started putting the needle through, but then it was fine. It felt like a hard pinch. I couldn't believe I was pierced! He slipped the jewelry through and screwed the ball on. My bellybutton was finally pierced! I looked in the mirror and I was already in love with it! It wasn't red or anything!

My dad paid with the money I gave him. It was $30, including the jewelry. I was so excited. My mom even liked it when I got home, she said that it looked very cute. It meant a lot to me because I knew she really liked it and I was so happy! The next day at school everyone wanted to see it. I love my navel, I've had it for about 4 days now and it doesn't hurt or anything, sometimes it will be slightly uncomfortable but only for a minute.

I clean my piercing twice a day in the shower (morning and night). I use the same antibacterial soap that I used to clean my cartilage. I let the water run on it for a bit and then I just push the barbell up a little, squirt some soap on it, push it down, squirt some soap on the bottom part, and then I just move it up and down so the soap gets in it. Then I do the same with the water rinsing it. It looks like I've had it forever, so far no problems!

I think that if you want this piercing, you should definitely get it, even if you're worried about the pain! I was, and I remember reading these stories and thinking that I could never get it done, but I did! If you want it, go for it! Just be sure to take care of it properly and you'll be fine! If you have any questions, feel free to email me! xoxo
