Okay! I'm not going to start it off, like everyone else does. I wanted to get my navel pierced as a symbol of me getting older. NOT because everyone was getting done. I must admit it is cute to wear in the summer, you know to show it off......

I knew that my parents or should I say father wouldn't let me get it. So, I decided to wait until my 17th birthday to ask my mother for permission. Since, my mother was the cool one. The day came and I asked. Like all Mothers she had her concerns and told me NO! I left the issue alone. So, I started to do research on what to look for and how to care for the piercing. I finally went back to ask her and she said okay. I was so happy and shock at the same time.
So, we went to Midtown Tattoo (Worst Mistake)...We went to this studio that was upstairs of a building, when we went in everything was clean and looking nice. He didn't even ask for ID or even asked if she was my mother. I really didn't care cause I really wanted to get my navel pierced. He charged 50 dollars. So, he called me to the back and told me to lay on this dentist type chair and cleaned my navel. He didn't even mark it. He clamped it and pierced it...that was it. Oh yeah by the way it didn't hurt. A month later it was acting up and all of a sudden my navel piercing got rejected. I was so hurt and mad, cause it was something that I really wanted.....
The second time around I went to a studio in Maryland called Capital Tattoo. It was so clean and they had work of tattoo's they did as long with piercing ones. I was approached by this punk looking man name Ken...Who was hot by the way. He asked me what I wanted to get and I told him. I had to fill out paper work and pay 51 dollars then he made a copy of my ID. I had to wait for five minutes cause the person piercing me had to finish up a tattoo. He called me in and he joked around with me and told me all that he was doing. He saw that I had it pierced before and asked me what happened. I felt comfortable and the studio was clean. He told me to lie down, but don't fall asleep that made me ease up a little. Even though I had it done before I was still a little nervous. He cleaned my belly, but he also didn't mark it. I guess he knew where to put it. I trusted his judgment. He put the clamp on and told me he would pierce me on the count of three, but the time he got to 2 he had pierced me, and I must admit this time it hurt. Nothing too bad, but enough to make me grab the chair....
When he put the jewelry in it hurt a bit. I got a curved barbell cause I think those are much prettier. I got up and it started to bleed. So, he cleaned it and put something over it and told me to keep it on for an hour. He asked me if I still remembered how to clean it and I said yes. He said okay and I was on my way. I clean it with Provon twice a day. I do mines mornings and nights. Then I soak it in non-iodized sea salt water followed by a clean rinse. I just got some h2ocean spray it's really good. If you want to know where to get these products from go to (SteelNavel.com ) It's still a little sore, but I love it. The next piercing I am going to get it is my tongue, and after that a tattoo on my lower back. From the same studio and the same person Mark. If you live in the DC/MD area I suggest you go there, because they are clean, nice, and they do a great job. I will be sure to post my experience so be on the look out. If you really want something go get it. Don't worry about the pain, just make sure you know the basics. Before I got my piercing I did lots of research and read stories like these from other people....
It will be worth it. If your parents won't let you get it then wait, it might be the best choice than to go get it done some place nasty and they just pierce you because they need the money, or to go and do it yourself.(Which is really not the best thing). I hope I helped you out a little, but if you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me :) i'll be more than glad to answer any questions you may have...
