I have wanted my navel pierced now actually for only about a month. It's just that I am only 17 and around here you have to be 18 to get something pierced without consent from your parents. Well I am the youngest of all of my friends so we all decided that on my 18th birthday we would all go and get something pierced. But then right after my 17th birthday I was talking to some of my guy friends that had piercing and I had mentioned that on my 18th birthday I was going to get my bellybutton pierced, and he was like well I can do it for you. So I started to read stories on here and started to look at pictures. I even started to pick out jewelry online and was all excited. I had read some bad stories about self piercing so I was a bit hesitant. I decided before I let my friend pierce me I might as well just ask my mom if I can get it done, I mean the most she could say was no. See my parents have always said you can not get anything pierced until you are 18 years old. They didn't even let me or my little sister get our ears pierced until we were 13 years old and could clean and take care of them ourselves.

Well I asked my mom and she was like "I don't really know about that, a navel piercing is a really sexy piercing." I was like "ooooook" but I still asked her and she was like well ask your dad. And I was scared to ask my dad because I was sure he was going to say no and I usually get my mom to talk to my dad about big things like this. But she made me ask him myself and much to my surprise he actually said yea and I was like really? And so my mom was kind of upset that he said yea. But she said that she would take me. I started to read stories on here from around my area. I also went to the association of professional piercers and there was only one place in the state of Louisiana. I started looking at Rings of Desires website and saw that the woman that owned it is Lenny Kravitz's piercer and even went on tour with him and pierced some of his band members. I thought that if Lenny trusted her then so could I. I also found out that she was featured on an MTV show about piercings. She was also the piercer that pretty much made up the tongue ring and worked in the first piercing parlor in like California. With all of this in mind I was ready.
About a week ago, my mom took me to the studio and I walked up the stairs to a black studio room. The guy at the counter asked what I needed. I told him that I wanted to get my bellybutton pierced. He asked my how old I was and asked my mother and I to see our licenses. He even found a misprint on my license that I didn't even know I had, that's how safe this place is, and He looked them over. He asked me if I had eaten in the past 2 hours and I was like yea I've read about that, I had some easy mac earlier today. He asked to see my belly button and told me that some people can't pierce their bellybuttons he said that mine looked good, he told me that mine would work better with a barbell and asked me what type of balls I wanted. I picked out a small clear one and a big clear one. He then asked me who I wanted to do it, if I wanted Angel to do it would cost 10 extra dollars but I decided to pay for her. To get mine pierced it was about $104, $35 for the piercing, $55 for the jewelry, and $5 for a thing of sea salts. So she took me back cleaned me up made her marks, made me check them, and also gave my belly button a massage. She then put on the clamps which didn't hurt at all, and then she pierced me. In all honesty it did not hurt me at all and I have a really low tolerance for pain. It wasn't even red, nor did it bleed any. It is fine now and hasn't even gotten red or anything.
Anyone considering doing this I would really really recommend it. I went before all my friends even though I am the youngest, but now on my 18th birthday I don't know what we will be doing. Thanks for reading this really long story, lol, and have fun!
