Well, as long as I can remember I have wanted to get my belly button pierced. When I was living at home it was always unheard of, my parents response was always "when you are 18 you can do whatever, but not under our roof." Finally I just gave up, well i'm 20 now so I had been legal to get pierced for 2 years, I don't know why I had never just went for it. Just wanted to find a place that was very sanitary and that I felt comfortable going to.
At A Glance Author Heather Contact dollbayb3@aol.com When A week ago Artist Venus Studio Skinworks Tattoo's and Piercings Location Bossier City Finally I had kept hearing of this place from friends, and on the radio, it is called Skinworks Tattoo's and Piercings, they are suppose to be the best and extremly sanitary, the owner was in the military and is on the board for safe piercings (I suggest anyone looking for a tattoo or piercing in this area, check it out!!)
So anyways, last Tuesday, I said "This is it! I'm going to do this and just quit talking about it!" So last Tuesday evening me and my man decided to go over there, it was about 5pm, we walked in and there where 2 other girls there getting there belly button pierced, one almost fainted when she was finished getting pierced, for some reason this didn't make me nervous at all. I had to pee really bad and the wait seemed like was taking forever, so I went next door to pee, when I got back the other girls were finished but the piercer had forgotten about me, so I had to remind her I was waiting to get pierced and she jumped right on it.
She had lots of facial piercings, but made me feel really comfortable, I gave her my id and signed my paperwork saying I wasn't drunk or stoned, then I went back to sit on the dentist chair that she was just sanitizing, so I felt really comfy and wasn't one bit nervous, she marked my belly after cleaning it and gave me the marker so I knew it wouldn't be used again. I sat down in the chair and laid back, she put the clamps on (this was the worst part to me) and she told me that I was going to feel the needle on my navel and to breath in and out, when I breathed out she pierced me! It was nothing and over in a flash. It felt like a small pinch! She put in the jewelry which was a silver hoop (easier for cleaning) and told me all the cleaning directions. I paid her $40 and tipped her $5 and told her I would be back soon for my nostril piercnig (another story for another day)
So far it has been a week since I was pierced, it hasn't given me any trouble, I just clean it with epsom salt and water in a shot glass and dial soap in the shower. It's healing up great and I am totally pleased with it! My parents are somewhat pist that I did it but you know it is my body and I am grown now, they haven't seen it yet. They are even more disappointed because now I am really into piercings and want to get a nostril piercing next (that will be posted at a later date)
If you want to get your navel pierced, definetly go for it. It is not that painful, you just have to take care of it and clean it good, and it shouldn't give ya any problems. Besides now is the perfect time to get it done with summer so close by. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me, and if you live in the Shreveport-Bossier area I definetly reccomend Venus at Skinworks, she did so great and they are very sanitary! Remember if you don't feel comfortable and the place, it probably means to get the hell out!! The places that are usually really cheap, there is a reason behind that. I would ask around the area you live in and see where other people get theres pierced and if they have any problems and then go there. Just always go with your gut, it is usually right.
Also don't get so worked up before going to get pierced, the piercer told me the girl I saw that alm ost fainted was really uptight when she sat in the chair and her adrenaline got to going and it made her sick when it was over. Just be calm because the pain is nothing. If you have ever had your finger pricked the pain is much less than that.
But anyways, after one piercing you will want more. Definetly, they are a way to express yourself! Happy piercing and be safe!
