I had been reading the stories here for the longest time, and I am finally able to write one. I had been trying to get my piercing for ever three weeks, but I was always either scared last minute, or I was traumatizing myself with videos on youtube. (Which I don't recommend anyone to do before getting a piercing.)
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When It just happened Studio Miami Tattoo Studio Location Miami, FL Yesterday though, my friends and I decided it was either now or never, so we headed down to south beach and went to lunch. Throughout the whole meal, I was deadly nervous. I could barely eat, and I really wanted to, since I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat in a while. But the nerves got the best of me. So I drank I don't know how many glasses of diet coke.
As soon as we were done eating, we went walking through all of Washington Ave. looking for the best place. They were all really nice and the people were really friendly. However, none of them were as amazing as Miami Tattoo Studio. The place opened a little while back. Only six months ago, and it is not only a piercing and tattoo parlor, but an art gallery. As soon as I saw it, I knew that was where I was to get it done. The place was beautiful! It looked absolutely clean and it was decorated old fashioned with wine and red tones. Nothing like a doctor's office, or any other place I have gone to get tattooed. It was an amazing atmosphere, and the people were really friendly and from all over the world. I liked that a lot.
When I came in I went straight to the counter where I asked the lady that was the assistant that I wanted a monroe. She told me the price, and took out a box filled with different gem stones for the barbell.
I payed, and started looking through the barbells. She had ALL kinds of colors. Red, blue, violet, pink, hot pink, black, clear, green, etc. I ended up choosing the violet. With that set, I had to wait a bit for the piercer to set up. While I was waiting, I was shaking like crazy. I was so nervous. I had to go to the restroom right before, since I was so scared. But I started to calm down, or so I thought.
Finally, he called me over to the chair. I sat down and he gave me a cup of mouthwash so I could clean and rinse my mouth. I had to rinse for about a minute and sit back down. As soon as I sat, he drew a dot, which I asked him to move a bit upwards. He did, and then he cleaned and disinfected the outside portion of my lip. He then grabbed the clamps and my heart started racing. He grabbed my lip with the clamps and then grabbed the needle. As soon as he grabbed it, I closed my eyes. He asked, "Are you ready?", and I said, "Not really..." then he told me to listen to everything of what he said. He told me to relax, to take a deep breath, and when I did, thinking it was only to relax before the piercing. Then he told me, "Done. :)", and I can tell you that I did not feel a thing. Not a thing at all. It did not bleed what so ever! It was super clean. I am also really glad he didn't do a countdown because I am sure I would have jerked back.
I got up, looked in the mirror and fell in love with my new piercing. As we was telling me the aftercare though, I felt my pressure going down and I let him know I was going to faint. So I walked to the waiting couch, and fainted. I woke up very soon after, and everyone in the studio was around me worried. Everything was fine though.
I left the studio, very happy, and it swelled only for about 2 hours, and ever since then, it has been perfect :) Not much pain, just sort of the pain of a bruise. The aftercare is pretty easy. Can't wait to be able to change colors and stuff! So, if you are doubting whether to get it or not, I say go for it!
All you have to do to take care of it is rinse with alcohol free mouthwash, and put some of this spray I was sold. It is so easy. The only problem so far has been when I eat something that I have to open my mouth wide, or I yawn, the back of the piece gets stuck behind my teeth, which pulls it in and it sort of hurts. But that has been about it. Everything else has been smooth.
