So this experience happened on my birthday. A little over a year ago. I was 14, and begged my parents to let me get my labret pierced. I kept asking them and bugging them for a long time, until my step-mom agreed to let me get this piercing, as long as I had a little labret, and I wasn't allowed to get a hoop. She decided not to tell my dad, and just surprise him. But I guess she didn't want him mad at her, so she told him sooner. He didn't agree with us, but she finally talked him into it.

It wasn't quite yet my birthday, so I had to wait a long time, and I was just building up with excitement. I already had my tongue pierced, and my ears were 0 gauge, so I wasn't too afraid of the pain.

I looked around the city for different tattoo shops to get this piercing at. I had once gone to In The Skin, which is the next city away, but the piercer had left. I didn't feel too comfortable going to Trade Secrets, because that guy scared me, and Wild Ink and Tatti Shack I had only heard bad things about. So I decided on Longhorn. They were nice guys, it was a very clean studio, and it was very well known.

Finally, the day I had been waiting for with anticipation came. I was 15 now, and allowed to get my labret pierced. I didn't even get much sleep I was so excited. That night, my 2 best friends came with me and my step-mom to Longhorn. We walked in, and it was so nice and clean. We had to wait for a little while, so we looked at all the jewelery, tattoo books and filled out the forms. Ryan, the guy who was going to do my piercings, came out and got me. He wasn't too fond of my friends wanting to be in the room, so they stood in the waiting room and watched from afar. I could still see them out of the corner of my eye, and I began to giggle because they were making faces and I was just nervous. I tend to giggle a lot when I am nervous. So anyways, he talked to me about the procedure and the after-care. I asked a few questions like "will this hurt?" and just the usual. He told me it wouldn't hurt too much, and if I could handle getting my tongue pierced and my ears stretched, t hat I would be fine.

So then he started to get everything ready. He told me to watch him take the needle out of the package, so that I would know that it was new. He also made me watch him get the clamps and other things he would need out of the cleaning machine and packages.

And eventually I was ready to be pierced.

He used a black marker to put a small dot where he thought it should go. I glanced in the mirror and I liked the location. My friends liked it too.

Then he put the clamp on. It hurt quite a bit. But I could tolerate it. And I was glad I could tolerate this, because I heard that the clamp hurts more than the needle. Finally, he shoved the needle through. To be honest, it did hurt, but not an awful lot. And it was worth it. When he put the jewelry in, that also hurt. When he was putting the bar in, the needle dropped onto my lap, and I thought I was bleeding. I was relieved to realize it was only the needle.

So then I got up and looked in the mirror. My lip was a little puffy and swollen, but I was happy with the placement of it and I liked it a lot. My friends and step-mom liked it too. So I thanked him, paid and left. I was told to use polysporin on it, and salt water. Salt water works SO good. I highly recommend it. It gets rid of all the infection.

After I got my labret, my mom dropped us off at the Oshawa Center, where me and my 2 girlfriends were going for dinner. We chose Eastside Mario's. I love that restaurant. But it was really hard to eat, because my lip still was a little tender and painful. But I enjoyed the night quite a bit, and my lip was fine in a few weeks.

If any of you want a piercing, I suggest you look around for a good shop in your area. And make sure that they are clean and well known. And don't be afraid of the pain, because it doesn't hurt that much, and it's well worth it.

I recommend Longhorn to anyone that is getting a piercing in the Oshawa area. They are clean and very nice.

Thank You.
