I had been wanting to get my labret done for about a year now. I had always thought they were the most beautiful piercing and was determined to do it. I looked around at different places to see what they were like and how the pricing was. I had gone to the Piercing Shop last year to get my nose done, although they did a good job they were just a little too pricey and didnt really take the time to sit you down and talk to you. So I went into Punctured. Immediatly I felt at ease. The dude behind the counter was very helpful and I knew that I would be getting my labret done there one day. The prices were also much cheaper than the Piercing Shop so that was a bonus. I left the store and all day I was thinking about how much I wanted to get it done. So after work that day I went back and told the dude that he could stab away.

I had to wait for about 5 minutes while the piercer arrived back to the store. While I was waiting the counter dude ran through the aftercare and other things. He also helped me calm down alot, which was good as I didnt know what I was getting myself into. So in walked the piercer, apart from being rather goodlooking he was a nice guy as well who also did a good job of calming me down. He took me into the back room and made me swish around some mouthwash. That was grotty stuff, but he said it contained 22% alcohol so it would help put me on a high : P I then sat down and he got everything ready. I was so nervous and I said to him " I hope you dont end up wearing my lunch" He agreed. Anyway so he marked the spot. Asked me if I liked the placement. At this time I couldnt have cared where he had placed it, I just wanted it done! I looked at it and agreed on the spot and then he brought out the clamps. These felt pretty weird, like wearing a peg on your lip, but they didnt hurt at all. Next came the needle. The part I was dreading. Anyway, he told me to take a breath and with that in went the needle. It didnt hurt at all. Of course you could feel it go through, felt kinda funky, but there was no pain at all. Then he put in the jewellery. I had chosen to go 16ga as I prefer smaller things. The stud is a couple of inches longer than the usual so if any swelling occurs it can accomodate it. I loved it! I thanked him and then went on my merry way.

My mum wasnt too impressed at all. I think by now she would be used to the piercings in this household, my brother also had quite a few, eyebrow, tongue, nipple and cartlidge. She was a little disappointed cause she had told me that she didnt want me to do it, yet I had done it anyway. I think deep down she likes it cause she didnt bitch at all and so I dont think she minds too much. I didnt do this piercing for anyone but myself. I had wanted it for so long and had looked into it alot. It wasnt just a spur of the moment thing. If you get piercings for others, you wont have the same satisfaction as when you do them for yourself. Piercing is a great way to get in touch with your body, and I love it.

I have had it for a day and there has been no swelling at all. It takes some getting used to cause the back keeps rubbing against the gums. But I am still able to eat and drink and so thats good. I clean it with saltwater as Daniel said it will help it heal faster. Everything is going well with it and I am so glad I went through with it. All I need to do now is see how they react at work.

I think this will be the last piercing for me. I have my nose, 4 holes in each lobe which I pierced myself and now my labret. I think that should do me. If you are thinking about getting this piercing done, go for it!! The pain is non existent and it is an attractive piercing to have. If you live in Brisbane, Australia I highly recommend going Puncture. Their high standards are great and you are really taken care of there.

If anyone wants more info send me an email and I would be happy to fill you in.
