The night began at one of those horrible high school dances. I knew the music I liked would not even cross the dj's mind, and I knew there was a live show just around the corner with several local bands that I would have much rather heard than the music that was blasting out from the speakers in our tiny high school gym.

I walked around for a while, asking my friends how they were doing (the normal social porcedure), and then I sar down. I noticed dinner mints on the table and grabbed a few. I really wasn't in the mood for them and I knew I just wanted to get out of the dance, which by now was a sea of massivly sweaty males and females. I look over at my boyfriend, "Can we go?" I think he was a little upset because we had both bought clothes for this dance and bought tickets but he agreed because he knew I was not having a good time and he wasn't that thrilled either.

So we left to go off to the local concert, and when we got there I remembered I only had a check, and they would not accept it, luckily my boyfriend's father lent me some money and I walked in. I knew that tonight I wanted a piercing. I wanted the labret however I did not know what it was called then so I reffered to it as "the chin piercing." This urge was building up inside of me, and I just had to get it.

Lurking around I saw Blue (who's real name will not be disclosed), I didn't know him that well but I knew that he was a piecer. I approached him and said politely, "Do you think you might have time tonight to pierce me?"

"Sure I have some other people that want something done but yes if I have time, sure!" I was so happy after he said this. Then I remembered the check, the good thing was though he said I could give him the money after I cashed it and that it was no problem.

Later that same night I caught back up with him, and asked him once again. He took me in the bathroom (my boyfriend came in also), I was quite scared at this point! I stood up though with all my courage because I knew that I wanted this done and that if I did not get it then I would regret it, so I took one deap breath. It seemed like forever before the intial process began. He put on a pair of new rubber gloves (after washing his hands), cleaned the area, marked it, numbed it, clamped it, and then opened a new needle. A 14 gauge needle which would soon be driven through my skin and be replaced with jewelry! Finally it happened. I didn't imagine it happening so quick.

The first thing on my list, look in the mirror, I loved it! It was a little bloody as expected but it was my new love. It was beautiful, and this may sound corny but I loved taking care of it. Piercing was my new love. Sure I had my nose done, my ears, but nothing compared to my new labret!

I had to call my mom later and the conversation went something like this. "Hey mom."

"Hello, Danielle."

"Ya know what I got done tonight?"

"Do I want to know?"

"I got a new piercing, a labret."

"What!"

She did end up liking it though, which I thought was funny. She had trouble admitting that it looked good but she finally gave in and told me she liked it.

You may think that the atmosphere in which I was pierced was rather unprofessional, however he was a very clean piercer. He took all if not more precautions than the piercer did that pierced me at a professional shop. He was also a very dear friend so of course discounts were entitled to me. The piercings that followed this were my tongue (also 14 gauge), and my septum (which was not done by Blue, 14 gauge). I would have to say that my septum is a piercing story all on its own, and the one which hurt the most! I went in to get that piercing with the atitude that it would not hurt at all that I was going to be fine, and the only thing I can say about that is, "Thank God I decided to get it numbed!"

My septum was not as quick as the others and I was told that it was one of the more painful piercings for a girl, if not one of the most painful ones, but again as with my labret and tongue ring I was so glad that I had gotten it done afterward. I am still waiting for my septum to fully heal, but it will in time and until then I am still thinking about whether or not I want my lobes enlarged...
