Ever since I can remember I have wanted to have as many piercings that I could without setting off metal detectors (even though I know that they don't, I'm a dork). I started my piercing late because of my weird mother. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 16. When I turned 17 I was working at Starship Earth (costume and other weird stuff shop) and I got to place all of the orders for the body jewelry and with that my obsession grew. I started to stretch my ears and such. Then I went to boot camp (don't ask why, moment of stupidity I guess) and I had to take my jewelry out so the shrank back down. I got kicked out of boot camp, spent a day in Chicago and got my ears pierced again. When I came home I started to stretch them again.

I grew bored with that and up and got my tongue pierced. I wasn't sure how I felt about facial piercing at that point so I went with the basic. For that I went to Body Revolutions. I didn't even feel it. The only part I felt was when they put the clamp thing on your tongue.

I decided after I had my tongue pierced that I wanted to get more piercings but I wasn't sure what else to get. It took me awhile to actually get my next one done. I ended up getting a tattoo first, which was an experience on it's own. I was with a friend of mine, Clark who has many piercings(8 gauge septum, 0 gauge lobes, 10 gauge horizontal nipples, 4 14 gauge dydoes and a 10 gauge frenum) and we in boredom and lack of anything better to do, decided to go to Body Work Productions (he swears by Derek Lowe). So I went in and decided that I would get my labret done. I thought that it wouldn't hurt at all considering I didn't even feel it when I got my tongue done.

I went in to the room after filling out all the paper work and picking out the jewelry I wanted, and Derek talked to me for a while about taking care of the piercing and answering any questions that I had about the procedure. He pulled out the tray with the sterilized instruments on it and I caught a glimpse of the needle. I thought it was huge. I'm not that big of a fan of needles. I can take piercing and everything just so long as I don't see the needle going in. Derek slightly laughed at my comment and said, "No, this is a huge needle" and he showed me the needle similar to the one that pierced my friend's septum (8 gauge). Derek asked me where I wanted the piercing, like if I wanted to be able to wear a CBR in it or what my 'vision' was for it I guess. So Derek began to mark the spot that was to be pierced and showed it to me and asked if I wanted it moved (they didn't do that at Body Revolutions when I got my tongue done). So, we found the right spot for me and it was time. I wasn't really nervous, but I later realized that I was naive

I had my friend in the room with me because he wanted to watch it being done (he wants to become a professional piercer). Derek held my lip with the clamp (not sure what that thing is called) and told me to breath in and out slowly (that doesn't help! at least it didn't for me) and then came the needle. I have somewhat of a high threshold for pain but damn that hurt! I felt the needle actually ripping through my skin. After he tightened everything I began to stand up. Bad idea on my part. I almost fainted. So Derek put the chair back so I could lie down until I felt normal again. Derek was so great. He made it as fast as he could.

I have had it for a couple of days so I can't really comment on the healing but so far everything seems to be coming along just like Derek had told me. Another good thing about Body Works is that they sell aftercare products in the studio unlike Body Revolutions (they just tell you what to buy). So I was able to get Satin, Tech 2000 and my sea salt there.

I have decided two things since this experience...I want more piercings and I am going to have them all done at Body Works. The staff is so nice and helpful with every question you could have and the studio itself is very professional.

I must say that I am anxious to get more done. I think the next one I am getting is Derek's favorite to do, the industrial. I think they are just so interesting yet difficult.
