For as long as i can remember i had been begging for a piercing. Originally i wanted my eyebrow but later moved past that and wanted my lip pierced. My parents arent very open minded about self-expression and the like so when they discovered the tatoo on my back they declared that i would never ever get any other piercing or tatoo so long as i live in their house.

There was a very legit reason to why this was unfair. My sister sarah, who is 22 and at college had always been allowed to do as she pleased, yet i could do nothing. It was august and i had just turned 18 and i went down to blacksburg to visit sarah at college and to see a Nile concert.

When i arrived sarah asked me if mom and dad were ever gonna let me pierce my lip. I said no and she told me she would do it and when they got mad she would take the blame. I decided to go for it and make the dream come true.

Needless to say i was incredibly nervous. Do i have a high enough pain threshold to withstand a needle through my lip? I didnt want to cry like a baby in front of sarah's hot college friends, that was for sure. But i knew i would be kicking myself in the ass forever if i didnt take this chance. A free piercing from someone i know and trust! i couldnt past. plus the last thing i needed was for sarah to constantly be picking on me for backing out at the last minute. So it went from MUST HAVE to CAN I TAKE IT to I HAVE TO. Finally i got the balls to do it and gave her the go ahead.

She got her stuff out and did it after dinner that evening and GOD did it hurt....for like 5 seconds and then it died down and i was on a high for the rest of the night. Later that week she did my left eyebrow after another struggle in my mind. I couldnt decide whether or not i wanted to face the trouble id be in when i got home but i put all fear to the wayside and dove in.

After the Nile concert, which totally blew me away, we went to this guys house who happened to have his own studio. It was nice. At this point i was done with the piercings for the time being but decided to sit in on this chick gettin her clit done. the though of what was about to happen made me cringe. But much to my surprise she didnt even flinch. Then she smiled. It was definately not the reaction i expected. Then Sam, the piercer dude asked me if i wanted anything but i had no money so i was out of luck. He showed me some crap he had done like some industrials and nipple piercings and some nice tats but nothing i really wanted. Then it dawned on me that a tongue ring would kick much ass. I asked sarah if i could borrow 45 so i could get it done and she was rather excited that her dorky little brother wanted to what my parents call "ruining the body god gave you" A half an hour later and a little pain, i was kicking back with a ball tongue. This was definately a week i would remember..my first piercings!!!

the healing didn't go so well with my eyebrow. it took what seemed like forever to heal. i wore a bandaid on it to sleep everynight for a good two weeks and it still wasnt feeling good. Eventually after about another week it got back to normal. Now my lip piercing which is my fav of all healed within a matter of days and hasnt really bothered me since except when i got punched in it, which is a different story.

Mom and dad werent too pleased but they have come to accept it. just this past week i got my septum done and am loving it. It hurt like a bitch and still does a bit but its worth it!!

The tongue healed over the weekend and gave me no problems whatsoever. At first the maintenance bothered me quite a bit but now im used to it and its not a hassle anymore!

To wrap this up I would just tell anyone who is seriously motivated to get pierced but has any sort of doubts about it, that they should go through with it. Ive never experienced anything like it. It was amazing. Yes it hurts but for just a bit, once the pain subsides its pure ecstasy. And watching ppl's reactions to it is one of my favorite parts. Old ppl look at me funny, its badass.

thanks

Mike
