Well for the longest time I wanted to get a labret piercing. I always thought they looked very attractive and piercings just amaze me! Money was really the only thing stopping me. I finally got a job at Loblaws, and I started getting paid, so I decided to put good use to my money and finally get a labret! My parents didn't really mind that I was going to get it done. My mom was actually very keen on seeing the final product, although my dad was like "It's your face, not mine.." hehehe. But I'm glad they let me experiment and allow me to have the experience, plus I'm 17 so I don't need parental consent and could have gone and done it anyway, but then my parents would be extremely pissed and I'd feel guilty.

So I was asking a bunch of friends and stuff what a good place would be to go to. Most common names I heard were Living Colour, Future Skin, Universal, and New Moon. Then I took a look around on Rideau St. downtown to check them all out(all except New Moon are in that area).

I didn't want anything too expensive, and not too cheap, because I still wanted to get my money's worth, and wanted to get a good quality piercing .. Universal was 75$, Living Colour was 60$ I think, and Future Skin was only 50$. I had gone in there [Future Skin] before when my friend wanted to get a tattoo, but the guy wouldn't tattoo her because she was under 18, and gave her a huge lecture on how places who do underage people are usually just looking for money, and don't care about the well-being of the person getting pierced/tattoo'd. So I got a really good impression from this place, plus it looked sanitary and prices were most reasonable, so I went back about a week later to get my labret.

I went with a friend of mine who wanted to see me in utter agony, hehe. I went in and it was the same guy at the front desk who was there before. I checked in and said what I wanted, had to fill out a bunch of forms, I paid, and then I had to wait about 20 minutes. I was SO nervous, but was good at hiding it. Eventually it was time for me to go in and get pierced. The room was like a doctor's room and I had to sit up on a bed-type thing. This was my first facial piercing, but I already had 6 ear piercings, so the general procedure wasn't foreign to me. The piercing artist told me about the risks, how to clean it, etc.

Finally the spot to be pierced was marked, and she had cleaned the surface with iodine, before I knew it my lip was clamped and she was spearing the needle right through. I tell you, IT HURT. I won't try and be all macho and say it was completely painless, because obviously, if someone is shoving a metal spear through a body part of your's, OF COURSE It'S GONNA HURT!! My eyes were practically bulging out of my head! I was so proud I had gotten it done. But right after the procedure I felt extremely faint and turned soo pale, so I had to lay down(its happened to me after every piercing I've gotten), they told me to take my time and relax. They also bought me coke.. :) so after about 15-20 minutes of laying down, I was so thrilled about my labret, it was really an amazing feeling. I would recommend Future Skin to anyone, it's a great place to go, the people who work there are real professionals at what they do. I guess you have to be very friendly if you want to work at a place like that because the people getting piercings or tattoos are pretty nervous when they first come in.

I had known from the beginning since I had gotten my job, that they didn't permit piercings, but about 5 days before I went under the needle, I had an interview somewhere else for a tech support job, and they told me piercings weren't a problem, so I quit Loblawsm, now I work at the other spot..

Now I've had the piercing for about 4 weeks, and it looks great! I haven't had any problems with cleaning it or anything, and I usually tend to heal pretty fast. No irritation or anything!

I eventually want to change the post to a ring, or get a spike instead of a ball put on the end of the post..later on I want to get an industrial, my eyebrow pierced, and maybe my septum. I'm going to go completely crazy, I swear its like an addiction!

That's all for now, :)

I'll write again when I get another piercing!

~Ally!
