I'm not sure what made me want a piercing. For fifteen years all I had had pierced were my ears.

It all started one day in the car with my mom, I was begging her to let me get my tongue pierced. She of course was not even listening to me and saying "NO...NO...NO...NO!!! That's disgusting! You are never getting your tongue pierced!" over and over again. I obviously was not listening to her. I continued to beg and beg and beg.
Finally she got so fed up she said "You can get your eyebrow pierced! Not the tongue!" I was shocked. I had never even thought about getting my eyebrow pierced. So...after hearing her say that I started asking "When can I?! Soon!?" She then tried to back out and say "No, I change my mind" But I threw a massive fit and she again decided to let me get it done.
It turned out she made my dad take me to get it done. She wouldn't go. My dad wasn't too thrilled about letting me get my eyebrow pierced, but my mom had said yes so he took me.
So we went to a nearby tattoo and piercing place. I'm sure there is a reason for the whole not being able to get an eyebrow piercing until you're 16...but me and my dad got around that and I got it done when I was 15. I was turning 16 in a few weeks! Not a big deal.
Anyway, I wasn't very nervous for some reason. My dad thought I would be. I remember the piercer was just cleaning the area where he was going to pierce and then I got a little nervous. I was like "WAIT!! DON'T PIERCE ME YET!!" He laughed and told me he was just cleaning. I felt like an idiot.
After he had everything ready he put the clamp on my eyebrow. It didn't hurt. Most people say the clamp is what hurts the most, but I didn't think the clamp hurt at all. Then he asked if I was ready for him to pierce my eyebrow. I said yes. I was ready and once again not nervous. So he started from the bottom and pushed the needle up through the skin of my eyebrow. As he was doing that I realized that there was no turning back. He had to push pretty hard to get the needle through my eyebrow, that freaked me out a little. There was just a little discomfort while the needle was going through, but other than that it was quite painless. I had imagined it hurting a lot more than it actually did.
He then dabbed at some blood that had begun dripping from the new hole in my eyebrow and then started to put the ring in. I would have rather had a barbell put in, but having a ring in makes it easier to clean. When he was done I went over to the mirror and looked at my piercing. I was so amazed that I actually had a piercing other than my ears. It looked pretty cool and I was proud of myself for going through with it. My eyebrow was just a little swollen afterwards, which is expected and gave me only a few problems. It did get infected but it was easy to clean.
My dad and his girlfriend agreed that it looked pretty sweet on me.
When I got home my mom was like, "You're disgusting!!!" She wouldn't even look at me. I found that odd because she was the one who told me to get it done. She told me herself that she liked eyebrow piercings.
The next day at school everyone was shocked. No one ever thought someone like me would get an eyebrow piercing. They kept asking me if it was fake. I guess that just goes to show that not many people know me too well.
I'm sad to say that now I do not have my eyebrow piercing anymore. I had it for about a year and took it out because it was starting to reject. I really miss the piercing. After I took it out my face felt naked. I couldn't look up and see the barbell anymore. People at school asked me "Why did you take it out?! It looked so good on you!" That made me even more sad! But life goes on, and now I am looking into getting more piercings. I have my bellybutton pierced now, that actually hurts more than the eyebrow! Eventually I will get my eyebrow re-pierced :)
I would definitely tell anyone who is thinking about getting an eyebrow piercing to go for it. It is an awesome piercing to have. It is relatively painless and looks great too.
