My experience with body piercing was minimal, ears and belly button. But in spite of that, or maybe because of it, I knew that I just had to get my eyebrow done. So I went to my mom thinking that there is no way in hell that she would ever let me do this. Appearance is very important to her and she has big plans for me and my future. Needless to say, I went to her planning to beg and prepared for the fight of my life. We sat down together and I told her how bad I wanted this and how much it meant to me. After a short discussion she relented and decided to let me pierce my eyebrow. One of my mothers main goals in raising me is to let me be independent and for me to learn from my "mistakes."

It was summertime, early July or late June. My sister was gone to Muskogee for the weekend to stay with our cousins. My mother decided that I would get my eyebrow done Sunday night on the way to pick up my sister. Seeing as how we would be passing right in front of Just Another Hole anyway it sounded like a good idea to me. Sunday rolled around and it was time to go, I grabbed a towel in case I started bleeding, and good-bye.

I don't much remember the drive there. All I can recall is that the whole time I chewed on the towel and my mom made me listen to her new cool 311 CD. All I could think was how bad plucking my eyebrows hurt. Once we got there my mom and I sat outside and had a little talk. She told me that if I screamed and cried or threw a big fit that this was going to be my last piercing. At the time I was a little offended but looking back I'm really glad she said that because if she hadn't I probably would have made a big fool out of myself.

We went up to the guy at the front counter and my mother told him what I wanted and he gave her the paperwork. He was a strange looking man but he did, however, have the coolest surface piercing design on his arm. So it kept me occupied for a few minutes while my mother filled everything out. Then, not even really thinking about it, I started chewing on one of the pens that was laying out for people to do the paperwork with. I think that chewing is a tension reliever for me. Well, once I realized what I was doing I sat it back down on the counter and he then threw it away.

We waited about five minutes and then it was my turn. We walked up stairs and Kim had me sit down on this chair that looked somewhat workout piece of equipment but in chair form. She asked if I wanted a hoop or barbell, I choose a barbell, hoops just cause my face to look too round. I got all marked up, checked to see if I liked the placement, and it was time.

The clamp was on and, as in most situations, the anticipation is worse than the actual event. I felt it as she touched the needle to my eyebrow and then she shoved it through. It hurt but not nearly as bad as I thought it would. It's like plucking your eyebrows x10. As she put the jewelry in and there was a slight pinch. I think the needle might have fallen out a nanosecond before the barbell got completely through. I got up and looked in the mirror. I seriously felt like I was going to pass out. It was more because of that nervous feeling you get and then it just disappearing, it feels like your stomach is dropping. It looked great either way. We were given the aftercare instructions and everything was explained to us and that was that.

We left and went though the drive-thru across the street at Braums. It was great. When we got to Muskogee to pick up my sister the people she was staying with had three or four people over for dinner. It was kind of a surreal experience. They are got up and inspected my face like they had never seen anything like it before. This is Muskogee the piercing capital of the world these people should have seen a few eyebrow rings in their day.

Healing went great. I cleaned it once or twice a day. After about six months it began slowly, slowly migrating. Then after about three months of this it stopped. I eventually got a shorter barbell and its been holding strong for about two and a half years now. So I guess even though there was slight (and I stress the word slight, most people that don't have much experience with piercing can't even tell) migration it all turned out well in the end. And my beautiful little piercing is perfect in every way.
