The eyebrow is my first ever body modification. I tried to get my belly button done but something was wrong with it. So the next thing was my eyebrow. It took me a couple of months to convince my mom to let my get it done. My dad still didn't like, I just showed up one day with it and my dad kind of freaked out. I think they think it is socially unacceptable.

I guess the idea of a needle going through something so close to my eye kind of scare me. I went to Koolsville in Midwest City of Oklahoma. My mom, my friend and I were going shopping that day and I just decided "I have to do it now or it will never happen". I guess I finally thought I had enough guts to do it. So while we were in the grocery store I kept bugging my mom about it and running back and forth to the phone book for the address of the studio. I think the grocery store was the best place to be because I kept seeing all that food and it was making me hungry and sick at the same time. I think she was a little mad just because she didn't want to see her baby girl get a hole in her face. She kept tempting me with food or coming up with reasons not to go through with it.
When we pulled into the parking lot I started feeling the butterflies in my stomach. But I knew I had to go through with it. The guy asked what I wanted done and I said my right eyebrow. I decide on the right because I want my nose and lip done on the left and it wouldn't look good with all metal on one side of my face. The guy in the studio was really nice. He had is eyebrow pierced too so that made me feel a lot better about it. We filled out the papers since I am only 15 and waited till he was ready. We were the only people in there so it didn't take very long. My mom thought the place was dirty but it was actually pretty nice. I think she was just thinking of an excuse. My mom thought that she could sit in the lobby and my friend could come back with me. But the guy said she had to go back too to make sure he didn't so anything weird. I think that made her feel sicker than me.
I walked around the corner and sat down in the dentist like chair. He took out all the equipment, which was all packaged and sterilized. He put on some rubber gloves. After he disinfected my skin he marked where he was going to pierce. I thought he did a really good job so I agreed. He clamped the skin and picked up the needle. This is when the nervousness really started kicking in. Right then my friend decided that she couldn't handle watching it and was going to faint. What a good friend. I still had my mom so I reached out for her hand. He asked my to close my eyes and I breathed really deep a couple of times. He didn't tell me when the needle would go through. The needle went through. He actually put the needle in really slow but I didn't feel much. I didn't hurt at all. I thought it felt like getting your blood taken. I didn't even feel the jewelry go in. He said "All I have to do is put the ball on" and I hadn't even realized it was done.
I started out with a stainless steel 16 gauge curved barbell. In one more week I go back to change the barbell. I picked a clearish blue curved barbell. It was worth the small amount of pain. When I went back to school everybody was stunned. I'm one of those shy girls who you would never expect to do anything out of the ordinary. Everybody said they hated me because they were so jealous. I think it looks really cute on me and doesn't look "socially unacceptable" like my parents say. Supposedly in their minds this is the last freaky thing I'm allowed to do.
I've had my piercing for a week now and it is healing just fine. As long as you follow the cleaning instructions you will have a happy and healthy piercing. I would recommend this piercing to anyone. It doesn't hurt at all and it is well worth it. Hopefully when I get my braces off I'm going to get the side of my lip pierced.
