Hello everyone! My name is Genea and I am 21 years old.
At A Glance Author Genea Contact Genea@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Wade I think is his name Studio INKfluence Location Lubbock, Texas I had been wanting to get my eyebrow pierced for about a year. My best friend and I had talked about it for a while, she wanted to get hers done too. And since we were both strapped for cash we never got to get it done. And then one day we heard that a place was doing it for thirty bucks. So we called INKfluence because they compare prices. And INKfluence is the only place we'd trust to do it for us. So they agreed that they would do it for us and we decided to go the next day to have it done.
So when she got off of work that day she came by my house and picked me up. It was about 7 at night, and a Thursday. We were giggly nervous as we drove to that tattoo parlor. I remember we were listening to the radio jamming out on the way over there. I think we were more trying to ease the butterflies in our stomachs. We had the adrenaline rush going on already, and we were not even there yet.
After what seemed about an hour (the place is about 10 minutes from my house) we finally got there. As we parked the car and opened the doors to get out we got really nervous and excited. We walked in the door and instantly felt at ease. I had had my tongue pierced there as well, so I knew what to expect and my best friend did not really know what to expect. INKfluence is very clean. The place is decorated with pictures of tattoos all over the walls, and Liz was very impressed with it.
So we walk up to the counter, actually it's a glass case filled with jewelry, and we tell the guy that we want to get out eyebrows pierced. He tells us that the guy who does the piercings just went to get something to eat. So we agreed to wait and he gave us the forms to fill out. We went and sat down on the bench to fill them out. At this point we were both so excited that we could barely write. After we finally got the forms filled out we took them back to the guy and he asked to see our id's to make sure we were of legal age. We gave them to him and he told us that the piercer would be back shortly. So we walked around and browsed the tattoos for a little bit since both of us are interested in getting another one.
Finally he got back and Liz went back into the room with him. I watched her get pierced through a glass window. And then it was my turn. I went into the room and sat down on the doctors like bed as he began to explain aftercare instructions to me. Wash once a day in the shower with an antibacterial soap such as dial, don't swim, and don't play with it. Then he asked which eyebrow I wanted pierced. I had decided on my left since I usually sleep on the right side of my face and did not want to irritate it by sleeping on it. I asked if there was something that I could hold on to because I was really nervous at this point and thinking to myself oh my god what am I doing? So many thoughts were going through my head at this point, but I wanted it really bad so there was no way I was going to chicken out. So he said I could hold onto the side of the doctors like bed. He then brought a sliding table over near the bed and washed his hands and got all the equipment he would need to do the piercing. He opened the needle and took it out; cleaning it with the jelly like stuff they clean it with. And then he put the dot on my eyebrow and asked if that was a good place. I said yes and he took out the clamps and put them on my eyebrow. Now this is the part I thought would hurt, since a lot of people say that's the worst part of the whole thing. But the clamps did not hurt at all. He then got the needle and asked me if I was ready. I said yes and I closed my eyes. At this point I was holding onto the bed really hard and very excited and or nervous. I felt the needle touch my skin and then he jabbed it through. Now I'm not going to say it did not hurt at all, because it was like a pinch but it was not anything unbearable. I think the worst thing about it was I could hear it tearing through the skin that was kind of cool though. So then he put the barbell through and screwed on the ball. I also thought the part of him screwing the ball on might hurt a little bec ause when I got my tongue pierced that was the part that hurt the most . But this time it did not hurt at all. After I was all pierced I got off the bed and looked in the mirror. It looked great on me. I said thank you and went to pay.
I leave the room and Liz and I are so excited and talking so fast that we almost forgot to pay. As we headed out the door we said thank you again and left. We got into her car high on this adrenaline rush. The first thing we did was look in the mirror again to admire our new piercing. And all the way home all we could do was talk about how it felt and how it really was not nearly as painful as we had thought and were told that it could be.
At this point though my eyebrow was hurting a little and kind of throbbing (I guess getting a needle jabbed through it will do that). So I decided I'd take some aspirin as soon as I got home.
I got home and I went inside and my mom was home. The first thing she said was Oh my GOD Genea, how could u do that? I just laughed at her and told her I got the piercing itch. She was not mad though, and I think she kind of likes it now.
It's been almost six months since I got it pierced and I still love it. Taking care of this piercing is relatively easy since u just clean it when you're in the shower using antibacterial soap. The first two days it hurt, but it did not swell up or anything. And the pain was not that bad, nothing that aspirin or Tylenol can't take care of. I love this piercing and I would urge any of you who want to get this to go and do it. It does not hurt much, just a little pinch and it is easy to take care of. Just make sure that you go to an experienced piercer and a clean place.
