First off sorry if I ramble a bit I tend to do that

Before a couple weeks ago I had never been pierced (not even my ears) when I was 10 and all the other girls were piercing there ears to look pretty I couldn't have cared less about how I looked (besides I was a real wuss about pain) and by the time I actually wanted to get my ears pierced it seemed like too much of a hassle to drag my parents down to the mall just so I could get some holes punched in my ears.

About a year ago I started playing with the idea of having my eyebrow pierced I asked my parents and of course they said no. After about twenty minutes of bothering them about it they said that I could but that they wouldn't take me to get it done and that I would have to wait until my college interviews were over (they knew I wasn't serious and figured I'd never get it)

That year a friend of mine went into New York City (we live in CT) to get her nose pierced and found a place that didn't check ID so piercings popped into my head again but still not as a serious thought because I've always been so afraid of pain. A couple months ago my friend slammed a car door on my fingers and you know what? it wasn't that bad.

Fast forward another couple months and I'm in a hotel room somewhere in Virginia thinking about my upcoming interview at Goucher College the next day. I was so nervous I decided to instead, think about getting it over with and I remembered my parents saying that once these interviews were over I could get my eyebrow pierced. I figured that if I could handle a car door being slammed on my fingers I could handle a little needle. I stayed up until 3am thinking about going to school with an eyebrow ring and how great it would be. I was so excited I didn't even think about the interview.

The interview went fine and when I called my friend to tell her I had decided to get it she told me she had been wanting to get her tongue pierced so we should go together. We decided to get it done on the same day we were in the city for a concert (Cake, De La Soul, Modest Mouse and Kinky) so when we told our other friend, who was going to the concert with us, she said that she had been wanting to get her navel pierced then she talked to someone else who had wanted to get their navel pierced so now there was a mob of us going.

We got into the city and went strait to the place that hadn't checked ID and they didn't this time either (which is a good thing since only one of us was legal) My supernice friend was paying for my piercing for my birthday (heh I'm now a whopping 17) it cost $40. We went downstairs and there was the dentist's chair. I decided to go first cause nobody else wanted to and I wanted to get it over with. I sat down and met the artist whose name was "No" which I thought was pretty damn cool.

Anyway he gave me a purple marker and told me to put a dot where I wanted it done. I looked in the mirror and put it where I figured it would look good then asked my friends they said it was cool so I gave the go ahead. I closed my eyes and took my friends hand and waited for the clamps I felt something cold on my skin and I can't really tell you what happened after that except that it didn't hurt at all it was just a pinch and that I didn't even squeeze my friend's hand. When I opened my eyes I had a curved barbell in my eyebrow and I loved it! Even when my other friends where getting pierced I couldn't stop looking over at the mirrors at the two silver dots at the top and bottom of my eyebrow.

When we went to the concert afterwards I couldn't stop looking at all the other pierced people thinking to myself I'm finally one of them! The concert was messy. It rained a lot and a sewer main broke so there was nastiness everywhere I was worried it would be infected but when I got home I cleaned it with bactine and it was ok. When my mom saw me the next morning she flinched and backed away but its cool she's not making me take it out. I knew that family was coming over that day and I would have to talk to my grandparents, my other grandma my uncle and aunt and sister and brother n'law about it but when they came I was really tired and I didn't want to deal with it so I hid my eyebrow behind my hair.

So that's about the end of it. Its been about 3 weeks now and I love it! Who would have known that getting the car door slammed on my fingers would turn out so great?
