Okie dokie, I've had this piercing since late February, I believe (lousy memory...),
At A Glance Author Junglicious Contact Junglicious@bme.anon Artist forgot his name...sorry :o( Studio Kalamalka Studio Location Bellingham, Wa and it's mid May now, and I'm writing this from memory so don't expect all the details to
be perfect. Here goes: I had been wanting an eyebrow piercing for some time before hand,
and my mom was totally against piercings. At this point, I was completley ignorant of all
things piercing / mod related. I was also 14 at the time. Anyway, I looked around the
internet, and found this incredibly handy site(betcha can't guess what it was called...) full
of pictures and information. And so I educated myself (see, not ALL 14 year olds are
morons...). I don't remember exactly how (shitty memory again. bah!) but I convinced my
mom to let me get it done on the condition that "That's it. No more after I let you get this
done." (heh...).
I wanted to get it done in Seattle, since we live closer, but, as my mom HATES
driving in Seattle, we decided to check out studios in Bellingham (about 70 miles away
from where I live now), since my mom drives up there pretty much every weekend to drop
my sister off anyway. So we looked studios up on the internet and talked to people in
Bellingham and decided where we wanted to go. We drove up, dropped my sister off, and
went to the place my friend in Bellingham had told me about. We went in and asked them
if they did piercings on minors with parental consent, and they informed us that they only
did tattoos. So we left, feeling kind of stupid (at least I did anyway), and decided to go
check out another place we knew about to see if it seemed like a good place to get a piece
of metal stuck in your body. Which brings us to Kalamalka Studio. We went in (my mom, my friend, and I) and
asked if they pierced minors with parental consent, and they told us yes, and we filled out
the required paper work. A really nice lady (I forgot her name too...Xo\) recommended a
small 16 gauge barbell to me, and showed me how it would look. I asked her about their
autoclave and such, and the lady gave me a little tour of the place and showed me the
autoclave and everything. My mom finished the paper work, and it was time. (This is where my memory really gets hazy, I remember the basics of what
happened, but not necessarily every little detail) We went into the back room, and I sat
down on the thing that was in there to sit on...it was kind of like the thing you sit on when
you go to the doctor's office that has that crinkley white paper on it. I think he told me
what he was going to do, and had me lay down on that thing. He put on rubber gloves and
cleaned the area. He told me that most people find the clamps to be the worst part and put
them on. I didn't think they were that bad. He took everything out of their packages, and
then he told me how he wanted me to breathe, and pushed the needle through, and then
the barbell. Then he screwed the ball on the barbell...but I'm pretty sure everyone knows
how that part goes. I had heard that the whole procedure was no more painful than getting
your eyebrows plucked, and for me, this proved to be true. He told me about the
aftercare, and gave me a bottle of solution, which I promptly lost somewhere. We paid
him, and left. I can't remember how much it cost, but I think it was somewhere in the
neighborhood of $45. When it was done, my mom told me she thought it looked "cute", but still hates
piercings. I have since convinced her to let me get my labret done(she hates it)...which I
have to take out because of gum erosion. Since I'm taking it out, and I'll probably be
paying for my own piercings, she will sign the papers(reluctantly) for future
piercings...right now I'm trying to decide if I want a bridge or septum piercing next. Or
maybe a lip piercing, since I have the feeling that it's going to seem plain down there when
I take my labret out. Anyway, her piercing policy is much less strict now. I would reccomend this piercing to anyone who wants it, and is responsible enough
to take care of it. I have had absolutley no problems with it as of yet, no infections, and so
far no signs of migration. And I would reccomend Kalamalka to people in Bellingham. I
also had my labret done there, and have had no problems *besides gum erosion* Xo\
