Well I've wanted my septum pierced since I was about 13, I researched and looked at photos and begged my mum until when I turned 16 I could get it done. I would advise a lot of research should be done just to make sure that this is the piercing you want.
At A Glance Author HOLLIE Contact HOLLIE@bme.anon When A month ago Studio afflecks palace Location manchester, england My first stop was a shop called Rambo's in Shude hill in Manchester, I've heard its really good and cheap too. So I went there with two of my friends, i told the young man what i wanted and he said "whats your septum again?" and immediately i thought :| this guy is clueless. i told him where it was and he told me it was his dad who did the procedures and he would get him for me, so i was a little relieved. I waited quite a while for this man and he told me he refused to do it because i had a pretty face and the only jewellery he had was a banana bar which would fall down. i was extremely disappointed and so annoyed, so I left to go to Affleck's palace. I knew it would be more expensive here but Rambo's was dirty looking anyway.
I went with my two friends to Afflecks, who are already pierced, and I spoke to the really nice guy behind the counter. I told him what I wanted and showed him my ID, he took a look up my nose and told me it was fine. I felt really happy and in totally safe hands, the guy had piercings himself and I wasn't scared at all. I told him I would have to hide it because I hadn't finished year 11 yet, he said that wouldn't be a problem. He told me all about the procedure and was really nice and chilled about it, which I appreciated. I filled in a form confirming my age and signature and saying I hadn't consumed alcohol within the last 24 hours etc. He told me to take a seat in the waiting area and he'd call me in in a minute. He called me into the small room and It was really clean and surgical, there was a bed like one in a doctors surgery and it was so scrupulously clean I was completely happy. He told me to take a seat on the bed and put on his gloves, he was talking away and maki ng me feel really at ease. He wiped my nose clean with an alcohol wipe which he said would smell funny but I really didn't notice. He made a mark with a blue pen on each side of my nose where the needle would enter and exit, and all the while telling me what he was doing and why. I began to panic a bit when I saw he was getting the needle ready but I just closed my eyes. He told me to tilt my head back and keep really still, I just kept my eyes closed and breathed slowly. Yes of course it hurt as the needle went in, but it certainly wasn't excruciating and the pain went completely after about 2 seconds . I could feel my eyes watering, not because of the pain, but because that's just what happens to everyone. I could not feel a thing as he was putting the jewellery in and screwing on the balls, there was literally no pain afterwards at all. He wiped the pen marks off and that didn't hurt either, he told me I had done really well and took me out of the room. He had fitted it with a small silver banana bar which I was glad about, it's not too obvious and easy to hide. He took me to the counter and told me about aftercare and changing my jewellery, he said it would take about 6 weeks to heal but to leave it about 10 weeks before changing my bar. He also told me there would be swelling and I would probably get little crusties but that was normal. He gave me a sheet on cleaning advice and told me to go and see him if I had any problems, he was really nice It didn't hurt at all for the rest of the day, I was messing with it and showing my friends and forgot it was there a few times. I hid it easily when I got home (from my dad) and cleaned it twice daily with salt in boiling water and cotton buds. The pain came a few days after, my nose swelled up and I felt like I'd been punched, but I think that may have been because I was always messing with it and pushing it up and down to show people, I should have just left it alone . I took painkiller s and they settled the pain, which only lasted about 2 days. I carried on cleaning it twice a day and kept my hands really clean and stopped messing with it. It's been 2 weeks now and I am gradually cleaning it less, it's fine and doesn't hurt at all. My septum is gorgeous and the easiest piercing I have had by far! Hurt much less than my tragus and my belly button, and seemed to heal a lot faster too. It gets quite scabby but that's easily sorted when I clean it. Some days I just use soap on it in the shower and that works fine too. My best advice would be to leave it alone as much as possible, try not to wiggle it about too much, and keep it clean but don't over clean it .
