Septum and stetches

First let me start by saying that I have always found septums and bridges to be the most attractive piercings. I have always wanted to get a septum piercing but was reluctant to because I work at a library and they have a pretty strick dress code. Then I met a girl, Lisa, at a local goth club (Tyr)who had her septum pierced. She showed me her septum retainer and told me that I could hide it at work. I decided that I was going to get my septum done the next day.

I set up an appointment with my favorite piercer, Derek from Body Work Productions Inc.. Derek is a great piercer because he has a great way of lightening up the situation and keeping it fun. We always talk about new piercing projects, random stuff going on, music, etc. Derek also doesn't mind that I ask fifty million questions about everything. He also plays a lot of good music in his piercing room. Most importantly though he is a good piercer with lots of experience and I trust him. He has previously pierced my ear lobes and one of my nipples and he has done the stretching on my frenum

Not only was I to have my septum pierced but I was also going to have my ear lobes and frenum stretched. A few days passed and finally it was time for the appointment.

When I got to Body Work I filled out all the paperwork and read the aftercare stuff that they give you. The girl at the desk asked what gauge I wanted to be pierced with. I said I wanted the biggest one possible. Then Derek came out from the back and led me to the piercing room. Derek examined my nose and said that I could easily fit an 8 ga without it being noticeable. He said it isn't often that he gets to pierce an 8 ga septum. I was pretty amazed as I had never met anyone with a septum bigger than 12 ga.

The piercing process was different from my other piercings. I had to lay on my back for the piercing and it was weird seeing the needle (which looked HUGE!) go through my nose. Derek also used a recieveing tube which I had never actually seen used before, although I had heard of it. The weirdest thing about it though was that it didn't hurt at all. My lobes hurt more! My eyes did tear up though, which I was told would happen. Other than that it was like any other piercing, derek telling me to take a deep breath then exhale and then sticking the needel through on the exhale.

Well after Derek stuck the needle through my nose I got a call on my cell phone because I was an idiot and forgot to turn it off. Derek didn't mind but it was a bit embarasing. After I turned off my phone I asked if I could see the piercing in the mirror. I'll tell you, It was pretty freaky seeing a big needle sticking through my nose. After admiring the piercing in the mirror Derek inserted the jewelry. The jewelry that derek put in was a black niobium retainer so I could hide it at work.

After the piercing came the stretches. My earlobes uneventfully stretched from a 10 ga to a 6 ga, I got some eyelets for my new ear jewelry. My frenum on the other had was a pain. I easily stretched from a 12 to a 10 but I wanted it bigger. I told Derek to start the stretch from a 10 to an 8. I got about halfway to an 8 before I couldn't take the pain and told him to stop. Looks like I'll have to stetch my frenum one step at a time till I get it where I want it ( either a 4, 2, or 0). That day I also replaced my dydoe jewelry with some curved barbells with black niobium balls.

Aftercare for the septum was hard until I found out that I could take the reatainer out to clean it. I found this out because the retainer actually fell out by accident while I has cleaning it and I had to put it back in. It fell out at a really bad time because I was baby sitting ( I like kids) and I was afraid the kid would find it and eat it before I could put it back in ( the kid was 10 months old and try's to put everything in her mouth). I did finally find it and put it back in. Ithought it would be harder to put back in but it was surprisingly easy.

Now for aftercare I remove the retainer and was the crusties off and clean it with Satin antimicrobial soap. I also clean the inside of my nose with satin and use my removeable showerhead to wash the residue out of my nose.

After a week I bought a couple new pieces of Jewelry to wear in my septum on my days off. One of the new pieces was a 7 ga so I used it to stretch my septum a little. The other pieces were a septum spike and a curved barbell. I also tried ordering a couple pieces from www.wildcat.co.uk but I haven't heard back from them.

I love my septum. My stretched piercings are doing good too, in fact I think my left lobe stretched alittle by itself.. The only mishap I have had is that my new dydoe jewelry fell out during sex. Luckily I was wearing a condom and I didn't lose the jewelry! Now I keep spare jewelry on me at all times
