I never thought that I would be one to get my tongue pierced ever in my life! But I did and I do not regret it at all. I seem to love it more and more every day. Everyone at school and work were so shocked that I got it done. Even some of my family members did not know about my newest piercing until months later! So if you're thinking about getting it done, I say go for it! It is something that I enjoy and would suggest to people who want something that they could hide easily :)

All I can really remember is that I got this crazy idea to get something done. I got my first tattoo in July 08 and loved it. I wanted and still want another tattoo but I have no idea what I want, so I decided to go ahead with a piercing. I still wanted to be professional so I needed something I could hide. During that week I asked my step-dad if he would sign for it, being I was 16 when I got it, he said yes :) I am so happy he did, this piercing has brought me so much freedom. My mom moved out of the house and she would have never let me do this. So thank you so much dad!

I was sitting at my desk in science class on December 19th, 2008 (I can not believe that I remember the date) not really listening to my teacher go on and on..something about the universe and blue stars....I have no idea actually and decided I was going to get it pierced right after school. (I was so excited yet, I wanted to puke my brains out when the bell rang) I told my friends and Sara made me go because I was going to back down (Thank you Sara :) Before we headed to the parlor, we had to make a stop at my friend's house so her mom could stamp my papers so I could get my piercing done.(I don't really know, just something minor have to do in Delaware; can not wait until I am eighteen!)

Nathaniel was the guy to do my tattoo so I was pretty comfortable with him. He sat me down and went over everything. The butterflys were taking flight in my stomach as I sat in the chair, gripping the sides. Finally he rinsed and dried my tongue (Which taste disgusting!) and clamped it, which didn't hurt despite what everyone says. Before I knew it, the needle was already in my tongue and he was pushing the jewelry through. I handed him the 50 dollars for the piercing plus a tip and walked out of the parlor, feeling like a new person. I felt different, accomplished and proud that I actually went through with my idea.

After I was done, me and my friends headed to the local dollar store for some mouthwash, a toothbrush(You need a new one because of bacteria) and some Ibuprofen (This is your best friend, make sure you take some before AND after to help reduce pain and swelling of your tongue) and then back to school where we baked cookies all night long (19 Hours to be exact) because my Culinary Art's program Cooks and Bakers teamed up with M.A.D.D. This sucked because I couldn't really eat the cookie batter! :p

To me, this did not hurt at all. The only painful part is the healing, which for me took about 2-3 months fully. I do not regret my decision; I love every minute with my piercing and I'm planing on getting more art done soon :)

I still have my long bar that they pierce you with. Personally I enjoy to play with it all the time, mostly unconsciously. Although if you do, I advise to replace the balls with acrylic or plastic balls instead of the metal ones. This will reduce the chance of breaking or chipping the enamel of your teeth. I have had no problems with my teeth or gums since my piercing. Only sometimes will I take my barbell out for twenty minutes or so because it is bothering me. DO NOT make the mistake I made and forget to put it back in...I forgot for about 2 hours and had to basically push the bar back in place which hurt for a few hours, more then the actually initial piercing itself. If you are in Delaware and are thinking our getting any work done, I suggest Agaru 2 in Wilmington. It's a great little shop, Prices are pretty good and It's really clean. The staff is amazingly nice, practice safe behavior and make you feel comfortable when you walk in :)I am 100% satisfied with my choice to take a risk and get my tongue pierced.
