So here I was, sitting at the shop where I work yesterday, on a beautiful snowy day, when these two girls come in and want there eyebrows done. Of course I was happy to do them as usual, I enjoy my work and I really love putting a smile on someone's face for making them a little more unique then they already were. But, these girls were really great and fun and absolutely had a blast with it. I sat and talked with them for a while. One got one done before their class, and the other came back after to get hers done. Great girls. Some customers like that can really make your whole week seem lovely. But, once they left I was feeling the itch. Ya know, that itch that screams for another hole put in your body and to fill the void with metal, or to get another tattoo etched on your skin, which reminds me..haha. I had done my own lips (two piercings, one on each side) and nose over the last 5 months and i was far overdue for another one.

I had to ponder for a bit of course as to what to do on myself. I am picky and wanted to make sure I could handle it. I asked the tattoo artist that I work with what he thought i should do, but he was just making jokes with it...telling me I should pierce in places I could only reach if I were a contortionist. What a joker. I definitely want the middle of my lip someday to have the three that go across, but I just got done healing with two of them and it was a bitch and annoying, so I think I'm gonna wait on another lip piercing for a while (but I'm certainly glad I stuck with them cuz they are kick ass!). Then, it hit me, why not just do my tongue. I'm a mouthwash whore anyways, very clean, but not too clean. I have never had it done before. And, ya know, I thought I should really know how it feels on myself because here I am of course giving people information before I go and put a hole in their tongue about how it feels and how it will feel afterwards, but not really knowing what it truly feels like on myself. And as a good body piercer I want to give my customers accurate information. Well, now I can do just that.

I got my area ready to work in, closed the curtain, everything sterilized and clean. Then I slapped on the good old latex gloves (I love the snapping sound, I feel like an evil doctor when I do it or something like that). Then I made a good mark to my liking and took a deep breath and just took a moment to gather my bearings and non-existent balls. Now, I wasn't sure how it would feel. All my other ones I did myself I didn't really feel them at all because I was focused on what I was doing and not wanting to screw up horribly on myself. Now, I have to admit of course that I am one that really enjoys how it feels, the process of getting it done, and the pain sensation because, to me, it's not really pain...it's a rush. It's like riding a rollercoaster but you're getting stabbed instead. HAHA, bad analogy, but the adrenaline is just the same. But, I was a bit nervous about this particular piercing. So, I just sucked it up like the bad ass I am (not really), and I grabbed the needle, lined it up the best I could and as perpendicular to the clamps as possible, and seeing how I was looking in a mirror you can imagine it wasn't the easiest thing in the world, and then I took a great big deep breath and pushed right through. I couldn't believe how weird it felt. You're tongue feels everything. It didn't hurt at all of course, but it was the weirdest thing ever because not only do you get the rush of it going through, but I was the one putting it through, that's quite a rush too, and my other piercings I didn't really get that much of a double rush. But this one...man I felt it quick afterwards. I got that ball on fast, took care of the equipment, and had to sit down for a bit. My adrenaline crashed a bit, but I got up and showed the tattoo artist who just laughed cuz he thinks it's hilarious how quick I can get the itch (I'm the same with tattoos). As for any pain, it didn't really hurt going in. It hurt less than biting my tongue, which hurts like stubbing your toe, so I was glad about that. But, it definitely has been"\Ãw sore the days following it. Thank you Advil. It didn't swell up the first day at all. The second day, now that's just crazy. The morning was all right at first, but it swelled a good one throughout the day. I could talk and everything, but eating was sooo rough on me. Now, after popping some Advil, it's a lot better. I always told my customers to use some the night of getting one done, and the days following it...and I knew why...but now I REALLY know why.

Now it's so weird to have this metal in my mouth and you can feel it all the way through your tongue. It's not perfectly straight...yet it's in the middle on the top and bottom...I must have a crooked tongue...hahaha. I can't wait until it heals more and i can play with it. I can't wait to test it out on a certain somebody...haha. I hear it's fun in that aspect :) But, I'm pretty happy about it and now I can give my customers a real interpretation of how it feels.
