At A Glance Author Mutt Contact Mutt@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Bill Studio Baltimore Tattoo Museum Location Baltimore, Maryland I've had 7 genital piercings in total ... in or out at any given time, but the thought of having my tongue pierced squicked me SILLY for some reason. I just couldn't imagine a needle going through my tongue! Two weeks ago, I accompanied my husband for his second nipple piercing and chickened out. Finally - two days ago I said enough was enough. I HAD to have a tongue piercing. I wanted to get it at the same time that I had a nostril stud inserted, primarily because of my job. I had (have) two weeks off for Christmas and wanted to take advantage of the heal time.
I headed over to Baltimore Tattoo Museum with my hubby in tow and was told that the piercer was overwhelmingly busy that night. GROWLS...all that courage gone to waste. On the way out, he made a joke, however, to "keep up that courage, lady!" which immediately put me at ease. I knew I'd be back the next day for my Christmas gift piercing.
Sure enough - the next day I was up and attem and off to the shop by 2:00. The piercer - after making some well-needed jokes while I looked over jewelry and waited for him to set up - put me at ease. I need a lil bit of "topping" by a piercer, often, to settle down. Further, he was very attentive and helpful in terms of my job difficulties and facial piercings. To that end, he helped me choose a nose stud that was small, but flattered my face, and he also showed me the clear and tongue-colored caps for my tongue piercing should I be asked to remove it. Then I busied myself looking over the VERY extensive tattoo flash in the museum and the historical facts and antique tat equipment. Very fun!
I had him put a nose stud in first. That went very well and the pain negligible...hardly worth mentioning and well worth it for that pretty stud. I had to wait awhile for the tongue (still considering backing out, mind you) while my husband had 4 barbells inserted into his penis shaft. Mistake! I should have kept on going, because I was then re-squicked by his grunting and sweating!
When it finally came down to it, I was nervous as could be. I did my piercing "trick" with myself. That's the little mind game where I say... "I'll just let him prep and clamp and I can back out at ANY time and leave a big tip!!" (Hey! It works!)
I won't bore you with the prep details ... suffice it to say that the Baltimore Tattoo Museum folks are VERY clean and VERY professional. All that's worth mentioning is that he did not tighten the clamps to a god awful level (which is a nightmare I'd heard about with other piercers) and he was very helpful with my breathing. In all honesty, had I not seen the needle and heard him tell me to start my breathing ... I would have believed he was still fiddling with the clamp. I felt pressure only...no needle stick... no pain at ALL. In fact ...
I'm kind of disappointed :( I love the RUSH after a good piercing and I didn't even get a small endorphin junk out of the experience. My husband, however, was so spaced and zoned after the 4 cock insertions that he drooled happily as I drove home.
Since the piercing, I've experienced none of the horrible swelling that I had heard about and zero pain. My tongue swelled slightly the second day, but nothing terrible. In fact, I've eaten normally, though slowly :) I have done what he said and I merely keep a bottle of Listerine with me at all times and swish after eating, smoking, drinking ... no biggie. As of today (2 days later) my tongue is normal sized and making friends with the new barbell. I am looking forward to swapping out to a shorter bar and have entertained myself endlessly with jewelry websites.
I am VERY happy with Baltimore Tattoo Museum and Bill. They were all great and very tolerant of us taking in our camera to get pictures of the various stages of the piercings. I'm even more happy with my pretty tongue stud. Yet another "why did I wait so long!" moment for me. I should know by now that piercings aren't worth worrying about in an overwhelming fashion. While I did not have the pierce 'dorphin junk, this is my favorite piercing yet. I love to feel the stud in my mouth and I can't wait to start licking my husband :)
Next year for Christmas we are going to get each other crock pots and perfume .......... uhm NOT !!!!! Though I'm not sure what I'll have left to pierce ... because I'm going in for a tragus ASAP!
