Well, I am 14 years old, and for the past 3 years I have been trying as hard as I possibly can to convince my parents to let me get any kind of body piercing. I have 3 ear piercings, very minor, and very boring. I begged for my bellybutton and they said no, which I am happy for because I realized soon after, that I didnt want that. I then began begging for my tongue to get pierced. They said that it was trashy so I couldnt get it. I had arguements such as, Its my body, why do you care, you cant see it... but still no luck. I finally gave up even asking because I knew they would say no. I really wanted it done, and I would do just about anything to get it done, even if it meant getting it done without their permission. I wanted it mainly because I wanted somthing to play with and somthing none of my friends have.

Fastforward To Yesterday @ HFStival HFSTival is a huge festival run by a local radio station that has bands playing all day. Kind of a mini woodstock. They have everything from Piercing tents to Tattoo tents. I had decided that this is where I would get it done. I asked them how much it would be for me to get my tongue pierced, and how old I had to be. I had to be 18. I look 18, but without ID that is pretty much useless. Me and my friends Mona and Ali went through the crowd to find someone old enough to be our parents who would sign for us. We found these 2 cool guys who would do it for us if we bought them a beer. We all jumped on it and walked over the the piercing tent. We signed a bunch of waivers and waited until they called us back. Mona and Ali were getting their Bellybuttons pierced and I was getting my tongue.
They first sat me down in this chair. They asked me to swish around some Listerine. I dont know what anyone else is talking about when they say how gross it is... its the same shit I use at home everyday. My piercer, then examined my tongue. He told me that I had a perfect tongue to pierce because the veins were on the sides and not in the middle at all. I was so scared by now, I was sure I was going to pass out. He took his clamps and told me to stick my tongue flat out. I had a huge problem with this because I was so nervous. He had to re position it 4 times. He clamped and got his needle ready. He put the needle through my tongue and put in my jewelry. He told me to put my tongue back in my mouth and swish around some more listerine. I stood up, and took an aftercare sheet and left. I was walking around right after, and that probally wasnt the smartest thing to do because before long I was sitting down thinking I was going to pass out. I sat down for about 5 minutes and s ucked on some ice and I was fine. I didnt feel anything really for the rest of the day like I was going to pass out.
Now, when I first got it pierced, it wasnt swolen at all. Now, a day later it is swolen but not enough to notice it. I have been eating popsicles all day and I have been sucking on ice.
Now lets talk about pain. Getting it done didnt hurt. I mean you could feel it and you could definatly tell it was going on, but it wasnt painful. It wasnt even uncomfortable, it was just... there. Afterwards it wasnt painful, just sore. Its the feeling after biting your tongue. Its sore, not painful. I was walking around the whole day and after a while you dont even notice it. I was playing with it the whole day, and that could have somthing to do with it.
Getting a piercing done at HFStival probally wasnt the best idea... but I saw them use the autoclav. I saw that the needles came out of steralized packages and they were neat and organized. I trusted my piercer because he told me that last year the wouldnt do HFS because they wouldnt card people or have access to an autoclav.
If I had the oppertunity to do everything all over, I would do it again.
My parents havnt noticed and I take it out when I am around them and immediatly put it back in. That isnt smart,.... I know, but.. I cant help it. I love it so much. I named it Bert!
