Well kiddies I thought that I would follow up on a previous post I had made about me getting my tongue pierced, I don't know if its still on here, but it is titled "Get the hell over your fears" if you want to go and read it. Anyway I've gotten many e-mails (which I love getting from people) asking me what happened afterwards, how much did it hurt, do I have any suggestions on finding a place to get it done, how swollen was it, how long before you could eat solid foods, drink, smoke, give oral... etc! So I figured I would just write a thing or two regarding that.

So, I get it pierced... everything went PERFECTLY and I'm in love with my new piercing. Okay so what happened after that? This happened about 4 weeks ago... and I have really shitty memory so bare with me.

Day 1: Got it pierced, things looking good, sucking on some ice to reduce the small amount of swelling there was. Ate some chicken noodle soup and a hot pocket... had minimal trouble.

Day 2: (Morning) a tiny bit swollen but nothing too bad, took some Advil just incase it started to swell or anything, continued with the mouthwash after everything I ate. (Night) things still looking good I was able to eat CHIPS and HOT salsa, with no trouble at all, and absolutely no swelling was there.

Day 3: No swelling, could eat fine... It was a little awkward because of the fact that I had a metal ball and bar in my tongue, so I had to get used to that while eating. Getting used to it didn't take very long. Note: when flossing my teeth I caught the dental floss on the tongue ring... AHHHHHH!! That feels HORRIBLE, so be careful while flossing teeth!

1 Week 5 Days: I was too anxious to wait 2 weeks to get my new shorter barbell in, so I asked the woman if should would be able to do it a few days earlier, she hesitated for a few minutes then said alright (since my tongue was looking so healthy and healed and not the least bit swollen) I've read on here that some people got to keep their longer barbell, but the woman threw mine away :( That made me sad because I wanted to keep it. Anyway she switched them out for no extra cost.

Now by this time my tongue felt seriously normal, although I never really had any complications with my tongue piercing, and it never got really swollen and I was able to eat solid foods the day I got it done... I must warn you that not everyone's tongue heals as fast as mine does. However I do think it had something to do with the woman I got it pierced from. She did everything beautifully, so again if you are in the Portland area, I recommend you go to Attitudes Body Piercing, and the woman I had pierce it for me was Ahna Edwards.

Oh and by the way, I wouldn't take my word for this because I am not a professional... however drinking, smoking, and giving oral... let's just say that if you think your tongue can handle it, then go ahead... just make sure that everything is safely cleaned up afterwards as in using mouthwash, or an oral antiseptic. While on the topic of oral antiseptics, I recommend this and so did my piercer... it comes in a little bottle and its like 5 bucks I think. This just cleans your mouth out all the more and apparently according to my piercer this is a very important step that many places fail to mention, which is quite possibly the reason my tongue did so well. Also as for the mouthwash, I ended up having to dilute it with water because it was too strong for my tongue to handle. Also a lot of people were curious as to whether I got it pierced from the bottom up, or top down... which I thought was kind of a weird question that a lot of people had... and to answer it – I got it pierced fro m the top down.

So if you want to see pictures, you can go to my IAM page... if you have an account, if not you can always e-mail me... I reply to ALL of my e-mails and would love to hear your questions or whatever. Overall I think that this was a good experience for me and I would gladly do it again because the pain is so minimal to begin with and the healing process doesn't take all that long. As of now I have a different tongue ring for every day of the week, I love buying new accessories for it! Oh and it drives all the guys crazy, if you know what I mean.
