I'm starting to go a bit wild with my tattoos and piercings lately and its true what they say the first time you get either one you want another they can become additive I know they have for me.

For years I wanted my tongue done but my family wont hear of it they thought it might look rough on me and gave me all reasons they could think of for not letting me get it done.
Finally they did agree in the end that it was fine to let me get it done plus I had a few tattoos and piercings so they couldn't really say no, sounds stupid but I do care about what my family think of me.

That day I decided to get it done right there and then I waited for years and now I just wanted to get it done and over with. So I walked down to my local studio where I got my tattoos and other piercings done before
I saw my friend who did them for me and asked him weather he had time to pierce my tongue.

As I was waiting for him to finish tattooing the person before me I became nervous but excited I couldn't imagine what it was going to feel like I think everyone goes through that stage not just because they were nervous but that we have no idea what its going to feel like.

Finally it was my turn I could feel my heart getting faster as I was walking into the room with excitement and nervously watching him lay the equipment out on the table next to the chair while washing my mouth out with Listerine.
I sat down and stuck my tongue out for him to check weather it was ok to pierce and luckily it was
I then had to keep my tongue out for him to draw to little dots with a purple marker pen one dot on the bottom of your tongue and the second on the top of you tongue, still sticking my tongue out he then had to clamp it which felt weird with the pressure of the clamp holding my tongue very tightly and then pulling it as far as my tongue could go.

I told him I was going to close my eyes as I didn't think I would like to see the needle in front of my face (I hate needles which is funny in a way that I have four piercings and three tattoos).
So closing my eyes I could feel the cold sharp tip of the needle on the bottom of my tongue ready to pierce through it, I know there was no going back now as soon as he said he was ready to pierce it and then to my surprise I couldn't believe that I didn't feel a thing but a little pinch I felt it go through but there was no pain at all.

In seconds the barbell was placed in and I was ready to hit the road I paid him and I went straight to my mates to show it off she brought me a chocolate bar while we were passing the shops and then realized that it would be hard for me to eat but at this time I was hungry so I went ahead and ate it I found it funny when it took me two hours to eat it and not even the whole bar.

My tongue didn't swell till three hours later but still didn't hurt I could still talk without a lisp which was great, I bathed it was ice cubes and drank loads of cool water for a couple of days and stuck to soft foods for a while.
I do have to say that the piercing isn't painful at all but the healing is bit sore but if you want it done then you'll be able to cope with the healing stage I have to tell you its worth it.

Depending on how you heal it normally takes 2 to 3 weeks to let the swelling go down altogether that's when you can get you bar changed to an smaller one and when I had mine changed it felt so much easier to talk and eat I was surprised to feel and see how big the bar they give me at first its huge but only because your tongue swells up that much (inch maybe more).

I also made sure I cleaned my teeth and tongue after eating and if I drunk fizzy drinks I wanted to let it heal a lot quicker plus I didn't want to let bacteria build up and make my tongue look white which it can go if you don't clean it regularly also if you don't drink enough fluids.

Now a mouth on its looking great and the soreness stage is over and I just can not stop playing with it if your thinking on getting it done then get it done but only if you want to not because of someone else its worth it. I love mine! If you want to know anything about piercings and tattoos you are welcome to E-mail me.
