Well, my story isn't too gory, or graphic, since I didn't really bleed much. More then anything my decision to get it pierced was spur of the moment, I had been wanting it, but did not know when I was going to get it. So, on that night of October 4th I decided I was ready. I went late though, right before they closed. Left around 7:15, got there around 7:25, and they close at 8. I knew if I got my tongue pierced I was going to get a larger gauge then normal, so I decided to get a 10gauge 7/8ths barbell.

First he had me sit up on the table he has back there, then while he prepared the equipment needed he handed me a cup of Listerine Mouth Wash. While I swished it around my mouth for what seemed like a full 5 minutes, he got all the stuff he needed set up on a metal tray table next to the thing I was sitting on.
For the first 5-10 minutes after he had me spit out the mouthwash we just talked alittle bit, he took his time finishing up getting things ready. He explained to me the things I already knew about having to take care of it. Telling me I couldn't have any hard liquor, preform oral sex, or participate in deep tongue kissing for a month... I told him I wasn't that lucky.
He then went on to tell me that for the first 2 to 4 days I would be relying on ice to take down the swelling. Otherwise the barbell would get too tight and that could cause a slight problem with it, among other things. Then for the first month I'd have to wash with antiseptic mouthwash after every meal. Also he told me eating would take some getting use to since you couldn't use your tongue the same way, and that the first 4 days eating would be very hard while it was swollen.
We talked for about 10 minutes, between him telling me the do's and don'ts which for the most part I already know. And us talking nonchalantly about other stuff as well while he took his time preparing. I told him that I would be in again soon to get more work done, and told him some of my ideas for other piercings I'm going to get. He then had me sit back up on the table since I was still standing from spitting the mouthwash out of my mouth at the sink in there, and told me that he was almost ready. We talked alittle while longer while he took his time. Tearing a couple paper towels off a roll in there he placed them on his tray.
Once he had everything set up he handed me the paper towel, telling me to hold it underneath my chin. Picking up the clamps, he told me to stick out my tongue as far as I could. Once I did that, he took the clamps and pulled out my tongue even further, keeping it steady with the clamps as well. Once he was satisfied with how he had my tongue clamped, he picked up the piercing needle. Taking his time he lined up where he was going to put the needle through.
When he was satisfied with that as well, he told me to take a deep breath, then breath out when he told me too... Finally, he pushed the needle through my tongue as he told me to breath out, then just as quickly as it all started, he pushed the barbell in as well. Once I was all done, I got off the table, and looked in the mirror as I wiped my lips alittle bit of the little bit of drool/blood that came out from having my tongue sticking out. Surprisingly there wasn't as much blood as I was expecting. After he was done he told me it may feel alittle loose as well since he had to use a slightly larger needle since he didn't have any 10gauge needles.
The pain wasn't as much as I was expecting either, it did hurt alot more then my other piercing, but I'm blaming that on the fact that I was more prepared for my other one then this one. I'm very pleased with it. It's been alittle over 2 weeks since I got it and it's healed up fine. Doesn't impare my speech, and I haven't had any trouble with biting it. Eating has taken alittle bit of getting use to, but that's fine.
Once I was done, I thanked him, and told him I'd be back next month for more stuff. Another 2 weeks and this'll be more or less completely healed, then I plan on getting other stuff done, that's for sure. It went alot better then I was expecting. Since it was all spur of the moment I was by no means mentally prepared, but it turned out great.
