Hello All! My name is Rebecca and here is my tongue piercing experience.

I don't know, something about a needle pushing its way through your skin is exhilarating. Anyways I really wanted my tongue done so I decided that's what I'd do next.
So after begging and pleading with my mom to let me have my tongue pierced, she finally 'gave in' but said she didn't want to see it. Which was ok with me. I was completely excited about getting my tongue pierced... I of course told a thousand people about how I was finally getting it done.
Then the day finally came and my friend Jamie, who also was getting her tongue pierced, and I went to this place in our town to get them done (because we were young, dumb and un-educated) and this place was mainly.... I am so ashamed I even went there... A HAIR SALON! So we filled out the sheets and I decided I wanted to go first, so the guy and his assistant took me into this this REALLY small cramped room, like I'm talking small. They made me rinse with Listerine then looked at my tongue and told me I could not have it pierced because my 'veins were too close together' I was like WHAT?! are you sure?! and they were like yea, did you want anything else done? I said no as my heart broke into a thousand pieces. I wanted this piercing so bad. I went back out to the waiting room and waited for Jamie to get hers done, it took forever and she came out without it pierced too, they couldn't pull her tongue out far enough she said!
So after I got my G2 I decided I would try again somewhere better, and this time my mom had no problem with me getting it done and we had researched more.
A bunch of friends and I went to Kitchener to get pierced (although Jamie and I were the only ones that ended up pierced). So we go in and at first I was scared.. I'd never been in a REAL piercing place. (our navels were done at grand bend in a piercing part at the back of a clothing store! I told u we were young, dumb and un-educated). So that was the first thing that scared me, not to mention the fact that I was about to let someone shove a needle through my tongue!
We looked around for a LONG time before we finally filled out the sheets. We handed back our sheets and paid and found out that it was a girl named Melissa who was the owner's niece who would be piercing us, which made me feel more comfortable, not to mention she was SUPER nice!! But this time Jamie went first, and she came out with a lip ring.
It was my turn then, so I went in with Melissa and took a seat in the dentist like chair as she explained to me what she was about to do and showed me how things were sterilized and the needles were only used once then she marked my tongue, told me to take a deep breath in and on the out she pierced me, then she followed with the jewelry and VOILA! my 'unpiercable' tongue was pierced at last.
She was telling me some more after care things but I didn't hear it all because I had such a mix of emotions and adrenalin and all that good stuff and she handed me the business card and the after care pamphlet and away we went. I was so excited! We went to the mall after and I bought all my after care needs and got some ice. I never had any problems with my tongue and I cleaned it and followed the instructions religiously.
I've had it now for almost a year, it will be a year November 30. I waited the full healing time and then some before changing it and so far it's been my FAVOURITE piercing. I just love it so much and I can't imagine not having it anymore. So I say BAH to the jerks who said my tongue couldn't be pierced! Although looking back we are SO glad we didn't end up pierced from there, and now we are more educated and only take our business to respected piercers who know what they are doing. So for all of you in the Kitchener area go to Tattoo Art and More because the people and everything there is great.
So here's the 'Moral of the story'. Don't get pierced without doing your research (I'm so glad I found this site), and don't settle for any old place to get pierced no matter HOW badly you want it (example, hairdressing place or clothing store).
