I decided that it was about time to let everyone here on BME know about my wonderful tongue piercing experience. I'd actually had it done nearly a year ago, but hadn't got around to writing about it until now.

Anyways. Last November, I was itching for another piercing, I already have two navels, and my ears pierced. I asked my boyfriend what he though, and he was keen on the idea of a tongue. I couldn't resist. He always adored my two navels, and since I had his approval for a tongue, I figured I might as well go for it. I had to save up a few weeks, as I was kinda broke at the time. But once I had the money, I headed over to Symbols Of Strength. I'd had my two navels done there previously by Miza, but I don't remember the name of the guy that pierced me this time. I decided on a normal 14g barbell, nothing fancy. Of course it was extra long to accomodate swelling. My boy came with me to hold my hand, because i'll admit, yes, I was nervous. Yeah sure, i've had my bellybutton done a few times, but it's totally not the same, this time the needle is like... In my face. But anyways, they took me in, autoclaved my jewellry (which I made sure to look for) and tools and such. I sat in the cubicle thinger, on top of the doctors type bed/bench thing. Where the piercer went over aftercare and such. I'll never understand why they do it before, by then, you're so nervous that you hear barely anything they tell you.

ANYWAYS, once again. He gave me aftercare, and an aftercare sheet, which I gave to my boy to hold on to. And gave me some paper towel to drool onto, if I did drool. He made me wash out my mouth with like... Super stong listerine, and let me just say, it's almost more painful then the piercing itself, that listerine shit is HOT! So after the listerine he got me to stick my tongue out, and started marking, the first couple dots were a little to far ahead for my liking, finally, it came to one place, I asked him once again if it could go back, but he said it would conflict with my veins, it wasn't that bad, so I agreed to it, and we proceeded. Originally I had wanted venoms, but then decided to go for the center first, and see how I like it, later on if I wanted venoms I could just take the center out, let it heal and then get venoms. He took the clamps out of their package, and grabbed my poor little tongue, it didn't hurt like people say, but it definitley wasn't the mo st comfortable position i've been in. He got the needle, and stuck from top to bottom. It was one of the grossest, but cool feelings ever. It didn't really hurt per se, but it stung, as to be expected. He said that putting the barbell in might be a little painful, but it was more or less a small tugging, and that was all. I wasn't too careful putting my tongue back in my mouth, and I knocked it against my teeth, that wasn't too pleasant, but I was happy. So I went out and paid. They told us we needed to get listerine and such to rinse it everytime I ate or smoked, but I decided to stick solely with the salt soaks, and they worked wonderfully. The first day it got pretty swollen and was tender, but I constantly kept ice in my mouth. I couldn't eat much for the first few days, but I eventually was able to eat jello and ice cream and such. After the swelling went down, and it stopped hurting, the bar really bugged me, but they told me to wait 2 weeks before going in to have it changed. When I finally did get it changed it felt so awes ome to have a smaller bar in my mouth, the other was awkward and painful, because it rested against the stop of my mouth a lot more.

The healing went perfect because of the salt soaks. It's now a year later, and i'm still loving it. My boyfriend especially loves my tickler barbells ;) He's even considering getting his own tongue pierced soon too. As you can see, I decided against the originally planned venoms. I liked my center too much to give it up. Even though it wasn't that bad a healing process, I don't think I want to go through it again, especially with two.

I'm itching to get another piercing, and i'm thinking either a monroe, or maybe a couple ear piercings, either way, I don't think i'll ever enjoy them as much as this one. Happy piercing everyone ;)
