I remember the time I wanted my first piercing. It wasn't in my ears but through my tongue. I thought about what I was going to do when I finally turned 18. I was going to get my tongue pierced. I had been thinking about it since I was like 16 years old, and I knew that my parents would never sign anything for me to have something like that done to myself at a young age. I was talking to my friend who had already had it done, and she told me about this place that she had gotten hers done. I was really excited thinking about how awesome it was going to be to have my first piercing to be in my tongue.

The day finally came. It was two days after my birthday and my friend was taking me to get it done. My parents had no idea of where I was going, so I just told them that I was going out for a little bit and that I would be to work on time so that they didn't have to worry any. So as me and my friend were on the way there, she was telling me that there was nothing to it and that the swelling is there for only a couple days. We finally end up at this place called Body Art, she said it was really clean so I wasn't worried any then. I had to fill out this paper and show them my license which was okay. There were all these other people talking to me of what I was going to get pierced and they were like "oh that's not painful", but I wasn't nervous anyways. Some people thought it was kind of weird because I didn't even have my ears pierced and I was going to get my tongue done, they were like it's all cool though. So it was finally my turn to get pierced and the guy was all cool about it saying that it would be the most least painful piercing that I would probably ever get. So as I'm sitting there gargling a strong mouth in my mouth waiting for the guy to pierce me, thinking of how I'm not really nervous and how great this is going to be. So he tied this paper towel thing around me and made this dot on my tongue where he was going to pierce, then he clamps my tongue,(which didn't even hurt)and finally the needle goes through. I saw all the looks on the other people's faces when the needle went through which was pretty funny. Then he puts the 14guage through and screws it in. It was really weird feeling at first, then it was staring to swell. So that night I just kept drinking ice water and not eating anything yet.

So like the day after, I was still all swollen and I didn't even attempt to eat anything yet. Later that day I tried to eat a doughnut but that didn't work out. I think I cracked my teeth on it a few times just getting used to it. Then like when I went to school the next day and everyone was like, "let me see your tongue." Of course I got the usual asked question, "did it hurt?" Which the only thing that kind of sucked was the swelling, learning to talk right, and learning to eat with it. Every time after I ate, I had to rinse my mouth out with a strong mouth wash so it wouldn't get infected. I couldn't eat any dairy, or kiss anyone for a couple weeks also. That really didn't bother me much.

Then like about a week after I had gotten my tongue pierced, I could finally talk and eat with it which I could hardly wait to do for a couple weeks. Pretty much then everyone had known that I was pierced except my parents. I didn't really think that they would freak out because I was finally 18. My older brother didn't really care that I had gotten it done either. My mom found out about it when someone accidently asked her what she thought of it. She didn't get too mad over it, just kind of disappointed. But now since a year has passed and she's used to it.

I really love my piercing, and I'm really glad that I got it. I really don't care if other people like it or not, I got it for me and not them. I plan on getting more in the future and I also plan on getting tattooed. If i get an account I plan on putting pictures of that up on there. Well I'm glad that you took your time to read about my experience, and I hope to hear from you all soon. So thank you all.
