Well, to begin, I was 17 when I first got my tongue done. I knew the piercer so I got it done for free. It was done pretty unprofessionally. I mean, the piercing was good. It was sanitary but the location was not in a shop because he didn't want to charge me. I held the clamps for him when he was ready. I was frightened so I didn't move. He pushed the need in and then the barbell. As he was screwing on the ball he dropped it so he had to run around trying to find a new sterile ball while i sat there holding my tongue in the clamps that had a new surgical steel bar shoved through it.

The next few days were awkward. I couldn't eat very well or say the letters S or T. My boyfriend and best friend teased the living daylights out of me because their names were Steve and Steph. I got my revenge a week later when Steph decided that she just HAD to get hers done. :o)

I kept it for about 6 months. My reasoning for taking it out was that it kept migrating forward and healing behind itself. I began to get scared that it might snake my tongue.

I began to miss it about a year later so I went to my new tattoo shop and decided to get it redone. Chicken did it for me. I asked her why my tongue ring had migrated before and she kinda looked at me funny. From what I could understand, that doesn't happen often. I sat down in the room, gargled mouthwash, and she told me to open wide. Her next response was, "Wow. That is a really big scar." She put the clamps on, drew a mark, pushed the needle through on my exhale, and I was fine. Both times I was pierced with a 14g needle but the first time hurt much much worse. She pierced my tongue behind the original scar tissue. It is supposed to be harder to rip through scar tissue, which is a good thing. Before I left Chicken told me to come back if I was having the same problem and she would stretch the hole for me. I had never thought to do that to stop the rippage. Heh.

The swelling was minor compared to the first time. My tongue didn't really double in size. It was more like 150% its normal size. I could eat, smoke, and do everything like normal. I was really shocked at how easily it healed this time. The last time I was on a diet of mashed potatoes for like 3 days. This time I had tacos about 2 hours after and ate like normal. The only thing that I can figure is that I didn't have to go through that awkward retraining phase.

Here I am a month or so later with a 10g barbell in it. It was ripping a tiny bit so I just put a 10g in it. I didn't have to stretch it or anything, which was cool. No real problems thus far. I keep acrylic balls in it for the most part because I don't want my teeth to chip. Slaves are my favorite jewelry to put in my hole.

Now, I am thinking about getting my smiley/scrumper done or my venoms. I have had a belly ring and a few ear piercings... mainly regular lobe and one regular cartilage with a gun! Ack! No more ear piercings with an gun.

In essence, get your tongue done. I love mine. The pain only lasts like 3 days and it is really nothing to worry about. It is comparable to a bruise basically. It has that same achey feeling with a slight sharp pain if you pull it the wrong way or accidentally bite it. :o) That happens a lot.

What is there to say? I get the whole chick with a tongue ring stereotype. Guys hit on me just because I have it. People automatically think that I am going to give them oral sex. Well, most of them. There are other reasons for having a tongue ring people. I personally just like to play with it when I get bored. I like the way that it looks. Sure, it can be sensual but that isn't the only reason. I met one guy who had the audacity to say that I was flirting with him because I was playing with the slave ring on my barbell while he was sitting next to him. Nope.

Both times my employers have been accepting of the piercing, which is a plus. I currently work a jewelry store, which is a professional environment and they are okay with it. I worked a shoe store and doctor's office when I had my prior tongue stud. They were also very accepting of the modification.
