I have always wanted to get my tongue pierced ever since I was 12 years old or so. My parents were always against it. I had my ears pierces 5 times in each ear so I was cool with piercings. I am the biggest baby of all when it comes to pain so I always thought I would never go through with it. I just decided to beg my parents to let me get my tongue pierced and she finally gave in and said "go ask your dad" I said "Ok cool" I asked dad and he said that he didnt want me to get it done, but it was my personal choice. Of course I agreed to get all A's in school, but that hasn't happend, but I am working on it. Well, I had to choose a day to get my tongue pierced because I couldn't miss school if it swelled. I chose September 19th because I had a half day of school the next day and I wouldn't be in school that long.

Well, Finally the day came around and I had to go get it done. I was really scared, but to be honest...there was nothing to be afraid about. I got in the car about 5:00. We got there close to 5:40.....Since there are certain rules in South Carolina about piercings I had to have a South Carolina Identification Card and doctor's note. My doctor is totally against piercings so he wasnt too happy about it. He signed it though. Well, Anyways. I got there and we signed a bunch of papers and I am glad I ate before I went because if I didn't eat they would have made me eat, because of my lack of food in the next few days. I was really scared and shaking trying to write the answers to the questions. David came and told me to come on back to the room. It was an awesome place. Alot of incence and the room was very sterile. He had just come back from vacation and such. He sat me down and explained to me what was going to happen. He then made me wash my mouth out with mouthwash. It was not bad at all. Then he dried my tongue, marked it and then put this numbing gel on it. He warned me that it would taste nasty and it did. I was at this time telling myself I was officially insane. I closed my eyes as the clamps went on and then before I knew it I felt a small bit of pressure and a little bit of a prick and it was done. I always pass out from pain, but after this my stomach ache was gone and I did not feel sick at all like i did when I first came in. I was amazed. He put the jewelry in and when he was taking the bottom ball out of the package he noticed it wasn't threaded so he had to get another one. No biggie. He put it on and we were cool. My dad said he was about to pass out sitting behind me and I didn't even move a muscle. Amazing!

I went by the nearest Sonic's and got a slushee which was awesome to eat. David had told me about the aftercare and how the next morning I should be swollen and everything. I was beginning to feel a little bit of pain underneath my tongue where the ball was rubbing by my teeth. That was the most pain I felt during the whole healing process. THe next morning it was Friday and I was a little swollen, but some people didnt even notice I was talking any different. It wasn't that bad. Plenty of motrin and water. I had some baby food and a milkshake. By thta afternoon my tongue was about the most swollen it was the whole time. I went to bed and didnt wake up for 16 hours. I got up and was fine and I ate some sausage, eggs and biscuit saturday morning. I had chewed gum all the first day to get used to chewing so all I had to do was put the food in my mouth. Saturday night I had baked potatoe and mac n cheese. Yummy! Sunday-TODAY(THURSDAY September 26)- I ate solid foods, cheesebur gers, pizza, chinese, lots of stuff. It isnt hard at all. My tongue is not swollen at all and the barbell is very long now so I have to go back soon and get a change out. I am still have trouble saying "s's" and "th's".... I love it to death.I play with it all day in class and I just think it is the coolest. I highly recommend you going and getting it done. It doesn't hurt at all...and coming from me...thats painless!! the boxes above.
