Hey everyone, first off, my name is Stephanie, I'm 15, and I live in a really small town in Missouri. For the last three years I have wanted to get my tongue pierced, because I've always had a fascination with all piercings, I think it's a beautiful form of art. Well, since I wasn't old enough to get my tongue pierced alone, I had to have parent permission, and so I got all excited, and I decided to ask my parents, my mom was cool with it, but my dad was a dick, and said NO. So, I just decided that I would keep bothering him, until he gave in, and yeah, he did.....three years later.

I had sat down and had a talk with my dad a few days before I went to have my actual piercing, and he said "here's the deal, if you get a job and pay for the piercing yourself, you can have it, and your mom and I will sign the papers." I thought this was fair enough, and I sat out to find a job. A couple of days later, I was in the car with my mom, and she told me that there was no point in finding a job, because I would just have to quit in the summer. So she said that my dad and her would just pay for the piercing. This was all good, cause I didn't have to get a job, and I could still get my piercing.
Along comes Saturday (the day of the piercing), and I'm really excited and nervous all at the same time. I get in the car, to drive about 30 minutes to Alternative Art. I decided to go there, because I knew a few different people who had successful experiences there. The closer we got, the more nervous I became, and my drunk unlce, whom I was sitting by in the back seat, didn't make me feel any better, but that's okay. We pulled up, and I got out of the car, walked across the street with my parents, and went into the place.
The guy at the counter, who was really hot, asked me what I wanted, I told him I wanted my tongue pierced, he said alright, and he sent someone down the street to get him. In the mean time, I sat down with my mom, and filled out the paper, stating that Alternative Art wasn't responsible for any complications of the piercing, and that I was at least 18 years of age, or had parent permission. Then, the piercer came in, he went and got his things ready, then called me behind the counter. I was so nervous and I was shaking, I was determined that it would hurt. It was kinda cool, cause he did it right in front of everyone. I sat down in a chair, in front of him. He made me rinse my mouth out with Listerine for about 45 seconds or so, then he examined my tongue, and dotted it with a purple pen. He placed the clamps on, which didn't hurt at all, and then he said "are you ready?" and I said "mm hmm" and he shoved the needle through, then he placed the barbell in the needle, cause it's hollow, pulled the needle out, and then he took the clamps off, and screwed on the bottom ball. Getting the bottom ball screwed on was the worst part, I think anyway. I was amazed at how easy it was, and I'm glad I got myself worked up, and then it was just nothing, that probably made it a lot easier. I just sat there and smiled as Brian(the piercer) talked to me about aftercare.
This is the least painful piercing there is, and it even hurts less than piercing your ears, but then again it all depends on the person, and their pain tolerance. Obviously I have a high one....hehe.
Anyway, I would say to anyone who wants it done, just go for it, but make sure you get it done professionally, cause you don't want it all screwed up. Make sure you take really good care of it, rinsing, and everything like that. Also, make sure you follow the instructions of your piercer, and everything should be alright.
If you're in the Columbia area, and you decided to get a piercing, go to Alternative Art, cause it's the best, and they do a really great job.
