The Horrible First Piercing Experience

My first piercing, other than my ears, was my tongue. Prior to actually having it done, I had wanted something pierced for a long time but never had the courage to do so while living at home. Then, finally, I moved out of my house and went off to school. After getting there, I had been toying with the idea more and more until I couldn't take it anymore - I had to do this or it was going to drive me crazy. (Plus it sounds pretty stupid when you keep telling people "yeah - I'm going to get my tongue pierced someday.") After my decision, I decided my tongue would be a good thing to get pierced: it was still fairly original at the time, it wasn't directly on my face, and it has extra bonus features.

So the day finally comes. I didn't research a location or anything, I went to this place called Backbreaking Tattoos, because it was the only place I could walk to and I didn't have a car. I don't think I really cared - I just wanted to get it done while I still had the courage. I do things on impulse, so I hadn't made an appointment or anything. Luckily, when I got there, they told me I could get it done that afternoon - I just had to wait about twenty minutes. I sat there in waiting room of this place scared shitless! Everyone I knew who had this done said it didn't hurt, but I didn't beleive that for a second! I mean, someone is sticking a god damned needle through your tongue! You can't tell me that's not going to hurt at all.

So finally this really mean looking lady calls my name. Its hard to explaine why she looked mean - you'll just have to trust me. I got up, shaking like mad, and went with her. I sat down, and she did the usual routine: I washed with Listerine for a few minutes, then she cleaned my tongue and marked it with ink. I remember she marked it with some sort of ink on the end of a wooden stick - I thought she was actually going to pierce my tongue with this thing and said something. (this was where things started going downhill) Then she orders me to stick out my tongue. For some reason, I'm not able to stick out my tongue real far, and this obviously pissed her off a little. She honestly said something like "Stick out your fucking tongue!!!" I was really nervous to begin with, and this technique of hers was not helping what so ever. After some more outbursts of threatening profanity on her part, she finally grapped my tongue with the clamps and pulled REALLY hard! Then she stuck the needle through, and sure enough it hurt like hell. I think I just kind of moaned or something, and she probably yelled at me to "shut the hell up!" I sat there looking at the huge needle sticking through my tongue and remember thinking "I better not move or this thing is going to rip mu tongue in two!" She then screwed on the jewlery and told me to look in the mirror. I was bleeding a little, but I was so excited that I had actually gone through with this and now had my tongue pierced! When it came time to pay, another problem arose: they only accepted cash, and all I had was a check card. I guess I had just figured most people probably paid that way, and like I said I had not really prepared that well. So I had to wait there in the lobby of this place, somewhat in pain and not really able to talk, listening to the nazi woman continue to scream at me, while my friends went and got cash with my card across the street. Once I paid, I got the hell out of there as fast as I could. Even though it was all over with, I think I kept shaking for about another half hour.

The healing proccess went slower than usual and was pretty painful at times. I couldn't eat anything solid for about a week. I eventually took out the bb after about six months, (I don't know why)but had it done again about a year and a half ago. Since then, I've had my ears repierced again and strectched to 6 gauge. I also want something else done, most probably a lebret, but have to wait until I have enough money to pay for it.

Anyone who is thinking about getting their tongue pierced, I would definately reccommend it! It does hurt, but only for about a second, and the pleasure of having it done lasts for as long as you want. It feels great in your mouth, and its a huge turn on!
