I've wanted to get my tongue pierced for about 2 years now. The first time I informed my parents of this, I got the worse reaction possible. My mum is a total appearence freak and went on about what if I wanted to get a job. WHO CARES? I told her I'd take it out if I hadda do something like that! Well.. it took 2 years of fighting and arguing and me begging, and finally my dad talked her into it. (I owe him one) He told me she was cool with it so I didn't bother asking her coz I knew the story might be different.

We only knew of a few tatoo/piercing palours so we decided on Ballistics coz thats where everyone gets shit done and theres been no drastic stories of people with infected piercings at Ballistics. The guy said it would cost me $30 and was quite unhelpful. I said I'd be back later. So I went and ate as much as I could coz I knew I woodn't be eating for a while. I went back and he sat me on this chair, (p.s this studio is like a box so all the people were coming in off the street and watching and their was like 15 people staring at me while I got it done) I wasn't really concentrating on what he did so for all I know he cood of got the needle outta his pocket or some shit. Well he piercd me, and FUCK!!!!! I can't believe the stories I see on here about people saying it was just like biting your tongue! WHATEVER! Fuck it caned!! Man, the worst part was when he stuck the rod thru. I think its coz I didn't wash my mouth out with anything to numb it, he just put this paper thing around it first. Well it totally stung for the rest of the day. I cood barely drink but I did. I didn't eat till about 7-8 days later. I was starving! I drank milkshakes and stuff. I really recommend milkshakes, coz they are filling and its like a meal. Also coffee (or tea) but not hot just warm, coz that really really speeds up the healing process. The first thing I ate was a lollie, and I had to tilt my head so it woodn't rub all over my tongue! Be prepared to starve yourself, and to not be able to talk properly!~
I started off eating really slow and really soft foods. But as soon as I stuck them in my mouth I realised it wasn't too hard. In my opinion it seems like you have to figure out a whole new way of eating and talking again after you've had your tongue pierced. I coodnt pronounce 'th' or anything like that. Its really embarrasing when you're talking to a someone who duzn't know you've had it done! It feels like they think you're seriously retarded. But who cares, I've got a tongue piercing and they don't.
Well he didn't tell me anything after the piercing he just said 'cya' so I didn't know what and what not to do. He even told me he didn't take eftpos (credit card thingie) so asked me to go get some money out from somewhere to pay for it. So I could of easily walked off and not payed.. but my friends were like nah he pierced your tongue and shit so I payed him. Even tho he was so unhelpful and didn't tell me jackshit. So I smoked,(someone told me you're not meant to smoke for the first 5 days coz the wounds open and you might get tongue cancer? Fuck that!!) stuck my fingers on it, sucked on pens etc... But luckily it didn't get infected. It was huge and white as a sheet for about a week, but then got better straight away. I was pretty fuckin shitting myself when I saw this TV program about tongue piercing and this chick said 'Never get your tongue piercing for less then about $60. All those $30 piercings end up being shit.' At that point mine was still swollen and white (this was about 4 days later) and I was shitting myself! She also said theres been cases where the tongue swells so much that the piercing actually grows inside the tongue. Mine looked like that was guna happen coz thats what had happened with my belly button and I ended up having to take that out. I occasionally washed my mouth out with warm water and salt. Looking back it seems a blessing it didn't get infected the way I was treating it. I changed it myself after about a month and I love it now.
I fully recommend it to anyone who wants it done, its real awesome. I love playing with it and buying new studs. After my huge negative email, this is only based on the studio. I suggest you research where you're getting it done before you just go and do it. I love my piercing, and I coodn't care less if the experience was alot better. I'm just happy with it now and woodn't take it out for a million dollars.
