A few months ago I decided to get my tongue pierced. This was something that I wanted to do for a long time, and I finally got around to doing it. I was a little concerned with what my family and friends would think about it, but I decided to go ahead with it after all.

I go to college and major in business and I am pretty conservative otherwise. None of my friends have anything pierced at all, and therefore I was a little concerned that I would not fit in anymore. But I have always wanted to get my tongue pierced since I saw the first people with pierced tongues many years ago. Now, I have finally gotten my guts up and gone ahead with it.
On a Saturday I didn't have anything to do, I went down to the piercing studio, and luckily they had a special on tongue piercings for $30, so I paid my money and was pretty happy with the price. The piercer asked me if I wanted big or small balls on the barbells, I asked him how big is big, and he showed me his tongue that had pretty big barbells. So I decided to go with the small barbells. After waiting five minutes or so, it was my turn.
I went into the other room, and they had me rinse my mouth with some kind of anti bacterial mouth wash. After that they told me to stick my tongue out and he stuck the needle through my tongue. After reading experiences on bme of people saying that they didn't feel it at all, I was surprised that it actually hurt a bit. But that only lasted for a few seconds and then he put the barbell in and I had my tongue pierced.
Immediately after I went and got some ice and started eating ice. It helped keep the swelling down, it actually didn't swell very much at all, and didn't hurt at all.
Eating was a little frustrating in the beginning, it took a while to get used to having a barbell in my mouth. Fairly soon after I got my tongue piercing I went to Subway and ordered a sandwich. I did not think that this was going to be hard to eat, but it was. Lettuce and other stuff in the salad would get stuck on the barbell and it felt like it was in the way. My also got almost blue from rinsing with Listerine all the time. But eventually I got used to it and now I don't notice it at all. Now I enjoy playing with it and I could not imagine getting rid of it.
When I showed it off to my friends they thought it was cool and liked it. My parents haven't noticed yet, and it seems like they're not about to in the near future either. I've been thinking about getting a clear barbell to be able to hide it better, but we will see how it goes.
My girlfriend was very surprised when I went and got it done, but now she likes it a lot. She thinks it looks great and she also likes how it feels when we are kissing. After a while she decided that she wanted to get one as well, and I took her to studio to get it done. Now she has her tongue pierced and she loves the feeling of the barbell.
Two weeks ago I decided to go along and get a second tongue piercing. I also wanted to stretch my first piercing from a 12 ga to a 8 ga. So I went to the studio and said that I wanted to pierce my tongue again. This time it hurt a little more than the first time. The second piercing was placed behind the first one and it did not swell much, only a little bit. I made sure though to eat plenty of ice the first couple of days .If you go for the tongue piercing make sure that you have enough ice so that it won't swell too much. The stretching hurt even more, but the pain was bearable. Now I have two barbells and I love it.
Recently, I ordered some clear barbells to be able to hide my piercings more when I go to job interviews and don't want them to show. I ordered two clear barbells that I hope to put in my tongue when my second piercing is fully healed. It didn't swell much, but it is still a little sore.
I really like my tongue piercing and I'm thinking about getting a second one. You should go for it, it hardly hurts and it looks great and feels great.
