The week before I went to get my tongue pierced I had become extremely depressed due to family issues and I decided that I wanted to do something to myself, to change my appearance in a slight way. But I wasn't sure what I wanted to do yet, so I was told about the bmezine webpage by my friend San and I looked it over day in and day out for the next few days deciding what type of piercing I would like to get. After about 3 days I decided I was going to get my tongue pierced but after I made this choice I became really uneasy (scared) to get it done because I wasn't sure how much it was going to hurt me. The night before I went to get my tongue pierced I couldn't sleep at all and I kept on thinking if I really wanted to do this, and after rolling around in my bed for hours on end I said "what the hell" I'm going for it. When I finally got up in the morning I called up a couple of my friends and we rode our bikes downtown to Artistics and my stomach was going crazy (nervousness) but as soon as I walked into the store I wasn't nervous anymore. It was very clean and had an extremely nice layout.

The chair in the back reminded me of a dentists chair that you sit in when your at a dentists and there we some trippy posters on the ceiling. Jeremy told me to sit up on the chair as he took out all of the items he would need to pierce my tongue and then he got out his marker and marked the spots on the top and bottom of my tongue and then checked to make sure he wasn't going to hit any of the veins in my tongue after he finished making sure my tongue was alright he prepared the barbell and needle he was going to use. When I looked over at the needle (I have a fear of needles) I told him I was going to close my eyes during the piercing process and he laughed at me and said "don't worry man, I'll close my eyes when I pierce it too" and that made me a little bit angry but I knew he was just trying to get me to ease up.
Anyways Jeremy was finally ready to pierce my tongue and I was ready for it to take place, so I sat up in the chair and stuck my tongue out, Jeremy then took the clamp and put and elastic on the end of it so that it would hold my tongue on it's own making his job that much easier, he then put the clamp onto my tongue (this was probably the only pain through the whole process) and it pinched just a little bit but it was gone in a few seconds, I then closed my eyes because Jeremy had picked up the needle and was ready to pierce my tongue. As soon as I closed my eyes I really have no idea what he did, but about after 45 seconds he told me he was done piercing my tongue and I said "that's it? I didn't even feel a thing" and Jeremy laughed at that and said "tongue piercing are really painless" and then he showed me the needle he used to pierce my tongue and put it in the hazard container and then we walked back to the front of the store where my friends were waiting for me and they said "so did you chicken out? I didn't even hear you scream or anything" I then paid Jeremy the $50 for my tongue and he went over a sheet of paper with me telling me exactly how to take care of my tongue during the healing process and he told me I should by some pain killers to keep the swelling down and get some regular Listerine.
On the way back to my friends house we stopped into a couple of drugs stores looking for some ibuprofen and Listerine but in the end we couldn't find any Listerine so I had to use salt water on my tongue for the next few days whenever I tried to eat anything, eating was a challenge the first 2 days I had my tongue pierced but it gradually got easier and easier to do and talking was a little hard at first but that only took about a day to get over. The swelling went down really fast and when I had finally gotten some Listerine I ended up using it to much and my tongue turned a yellow color and I got worried about it so I called Jeremy up and he told me it was completely normal and I sighed in relief.
Over all I would say my tongue piercing experience was great and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get something pierced but doesn't want something really noticeable, but I would recommend getting an acrylic barbell because it does less damage to your teeth.
