a little history about me:

I'm a 19 year old, 2nd year architecture student. until 2 months ago when i got my tongue pierced, i was a relatively unmodified body. I had 2 holes in each lobe (done by a gun at the mall - i know now that it's bad), the first (done when i was 8) i slightly stretched to 14g. the second i got done when i turned 18 (wow was i a rebel)

I had been thinking about piercing my tongue and my navel pierced(at the time i was unaware of all the other options out there.)i had done a lot of research on tongue piercing and decided that was what i wanted. however i didn't really have the guts to go get it done with out a little push from someone.

I was in ft wayne one weekend visiting a friend. while she was working during the day i hung out with her roommate Jess. the 2 of us went to the mall and she talked about getting her brow pierced the whole time. so on the way home we stopped at Grade A Tattoos, a block away from her apt. i mentioned that i wanted to get my tongue done but really didn't have the cash. I was planning on waiting to do it at a place back home. but after talking to trent (the piercer at Grade A), who seemed to really know alot about piercing i decided to do it that day. so I got out my credit cards and went for it.

i after watching jess get pierced i filled out some paper work, picked out jewelry and folloewed trent into the first room. i was shaking with aticipation and nerves) he got everything out and had me rinse my mouth with some green stuff to cleanse my mouth. it actually tasted good. i spit it out and he marked my tongue on top and bottom. he told me to stick out my tongue as far as i could. he then put on the clamp (which didn;t hurt much -- note: i wasn't the least bit concerned with pain from the beginning) he told me to take deep breaths and after the second one he pierced. i had my eyes closed so it was kind of a blur. i don't know if he pierced from the bottom or the top. i didn't even think about it until some asked me later. it didn't hurt much but it wasn't until i saw the needle that i realized what was actually happening. I was more shocked than anything else. he slid the jewelry on and told me to keep my tongue out while he screwed the ball in. after ward he asked how i felt. i told him the truth - a little woosy. so i laid down for a min enjoying the adrenaline rush, amazed at myself and what i had just done. then i got up to look in the mirror. the first thing i said to jess, who had watched the whole procedure, was "i have a hole in my tongue!" she just laughed at me. i was in disbelief for a few minutes still. this was the first real crazy spontaneous thing i had ever done. ( i know - how boring i must be)

as i paid for it, trent went over after care instructions and gave me a care package that included salt, mouthwash, stickers and business cards, and a sucker (like i could eat it then)

that night i went to a party but didn't drink anything but water. besides the fact that trent had told me not to drink alcohol that night, i was afraid i would bite my tongue or my bar and hurt my self or chip my teeth. i have since bought a 1/2 inch bar with plastic beads to prevent tooth damage. no problems so far.

there was no blood, ever. it swelled to about the length of the bar (which was 3/4 in. 12g) i lived on ice water for the next few days. eating a little more everyday for a week. after that i could function relatively normal. my speech was only slightly impared for the first couple days.

It has now been 2 months and i've had no problems except that i freaked my mom out. but you gotta do that now and then i guess. i don't live with her (im in college) so she didn't find out about it right away.

she told my entire family too which made my thankgiving break quite interesting (and annoying --"did it hurt?" "i heard that was a lesbian thing" "people are gonna think you're a whore" "that's so sexual" "guys are gonna expect things" -- i hate that shit. i guess my advice is if you're gonna do it, don't worry about what others think. do it for yourself. it's such an awesome rush and it's fun to play with during boring classes.

i have since put another hole in my right lobe myself using a sewing needle. i did the left one a week later but ended up taking it out cuz it wasn't even. i now have a growing list of future piercings as i discover new ones through out the pages of bme including 2 right helix, 1 left rook, navel, and possibly my left brow. The rook will be first and hopefully soon.

i will write about those as they come about.

contact me if ya want to ask questions or just wanna chat.
