Prooving everyone wrong!! |

I remember seeing my very first tongue piercing when I was a Freshman in high school. I thought it was the grossest thing I had ever seen. Then, this year, my senior year in high school, a few of my friends got it done. I started to grow to like them, and eventually I said that I wanted to get it done.I met Melissa about 2 1/2 months ago. Her and I were becoming really good friends, and a few weeks later she just went out and pierced her tongue. I thought 'hey cool, maybe I just will get it done.' My mother though, forbid me to put any hole in my body, excluding my ears, while I was living at home. So I figured I'd just wait until Fall since I was going away to college.
About two weeks later, while my 16 year old sister was driving us to school, she said that our mother was taking her out the next day to get her navel pierced. I was ripped. Why was she allowed to pierce her body, when she was only 16 years old, and I wasn't even though I was 18, almost 19! I told my friends, and that day at lunch we went out to Portland Tattoo to get my tongue done.
I was so nervous when I walked in. I went up to the guy and told him what I wanted. He asked to see my ID, I showed him, and then he had me fill out paperwork. When I was done he had me sit on a leather chair while another guy asked me to stick out my tongue. He then asked me to curl it up and bite on it. I did it and he said my tongue wasn't able to be pierced because I had a vein in the way.
Now I did see 3 veins. One on each side of my tongue, and one close to the middle of my tongue, but very obviously out of the way.
My adrenaline rush just completely dissapear, and dissapointment came in it's place. I was so mad too. I really wanted it done, and I couldn't see any vein stopping it from being done, but he's the expert.
The next day I told my friend Brian about it. He told me that he had a vein in the way and he went to a place called The Bad Seed, and Jasin did it for him. I decided to go there, whenever I got the money, the time, and my courage up again. Well, that night my sister came home with her navel pierced. I wasn't very happy.
5 days later, after school, the same friend that took me to Portland Tattoo, took the to The Bad Seed. I was so nervous. So was she. I walked in, and told Jasin I wanted my tongue pierced. I showed him my ID and filled out the paper. Then he had me come around the other side of the counter. He had me rinse with yellow listerine, it tasted so bad! Then He asked me to sit on his bench thing. He got out 3 packages. One was the clamps, another was the needle, and the 3rd was the barbell. I was started to really get nervous now. My plams were sweating!
Jasin asked me to stick my tongue out as far as I could. I did. Then he asked me to lift it up. I did. Then he put a purple dot on the top, and asked if I thought it was ok. I said sure. Then he put the clamps on and lifted my tongue up with them, took a little flashlight, and examined then underside of my tongue one last time. He said it was fine. Now I was thinking both "YES! I can get it done!" and "Oh god what am i doing!"
He picked up the needle, and told me I was going to feel pressure. I was getting ready for pain. I closed my eyes, and felt the pressure. I let out a yelp, only because it startled me. I didn't hurt at all. There was pressure though. Almost as if he had taken my tongue between 2 of his fingers and squeezed it. Then he put the barbell on and helped put my tongue back in my mouth. He then proceeded to tell me how to care for it. I did it! I got it done. I was so proud of myself for not chickening out. That was on Wednesday, May 17 @ 2:30pm EST. I had to work from 3pm to 8pm EST. I was slurring the whole time. I work at a grocery store, and I can't say plastic very well anymore, but that's because my tongue is swollen.
My sister thinks it's discusting. Her boyfriend thinks it is too and claims he's going to pierce his penis now. My mother is ok with it, and my father doesn't know. He'd probably flip out too. My friends are all shocked that I did it. Even my friend who went with me, and Melissa!! I prooved them wrong, along with the guys at Portland Tattoo! LOL!
