Saturday the 14th was the big day. After reading some articles and looking at some pictures in BME on tongue peircing I decided I wanted the venom peircing. After all I do have a vein down the middle of my tongue and I really preffered the look of the venom anyways. I decided to go to Addictives in London because I have heard a lot of good things about them, and how nice everyone who worked there was. Which was very true. They had a lot of tattoos posted up to look at and a fairly large selection of body jewellery and were willing to make any special orders as soon as you needed one.

The night before the big day I couldn't get any sleep because I was so worried about what to expect regarding the pain and healing. But the next day I was up and ready to go! I had a big breakfast because as I read in one particular article in BME, I would be very thankful after the peircing because the only thing I will be able to eat is basically baby food. Not a great thing to be looking forward to, I might add. (The type for babies 6 months and under is best because the 9 month food is much too chunky to be able to chew well). Since I smoke I also made sure to have a few before the procedure because of the difficulty I knew I would have afterwards.

When I arrived at Addictives my nerves really started to go crazy. I tried to just relax and think of how quickly it will all be over. At least thats what most people tried to tell me, and unknowingly I beleived them.

Then my turn was up, the peircist took me into the room and turned on the fan because she could notice I was sweating a little from all of the tension, and then explained to me the procedure of how it would all be done, what to expect during the whole thing, healing and some good tips. She then gave me some Listerene to rinse with for 30 seconds and then looked at my tongue repeatedly to make sure the dots made on my tongue were alligned top and bottom and not too close together(which I didn't want). After checking things out in the mirror I decided that things looked good and sat back down to get cleaned up with an alcohol wipe(yucky taste!) Next thing I knew she had the needle going through my poor defenseless tongue! And it hurt so much, I swear I wanted her to just cut my tongue off! After the first needle I honestly didn't think I could go through with the second, and was told I could come back another day, but there was no way I would do that because I wanted them both over and done with! So after a few minutes of trying to relax she got the next needle ready , and changing her gloves for the second time. I might add I was definetely not worried about the cleanliness factor because everything was carefully cleaned and sealed beforehand. I was warned the next needle would be much more intense so i held on to my friends hand for dear life and let me tell you I had tears streaming down my face. And had a couple yells come out, too. After it was all over I was told by the peircist that the venom is actually a lot more painful than most genital peircings...good thing she told me that afterwards, or else I would have never gone through with it and would never be able to have the entertainment of two shiny balls flicking around in my mouth. When I get to downsize it will be after 4 weeks because of the intense peircing and locations of them. I do recommend having some sort of pain/anti-inflammatory drug to take, to make eating a bit easier. And Listerine will become your best friend! I was quite surprised how hard it is to swish with it when you can barely move your tongue around. Smoking afterwards will be a challenge as well, you'll really start to notice just how much you use your tongue. After a while I decided to stop talking because my tongue got really sore and felt like it was throbbing, it swelled up really big that evening. And drinking lots of water with large amounts of ice helps a lot to numb your tongue a little bit. But I cannot wait till my tongue goes back to normal. I wonder for some people if it is actually worth all the pain and discomfort, I suppose its all in the mind, but i would much rather get 7 more tattoos than go through that again!
