About a year ago I started a phase of piercing. Since then I've gotten a number of things pierced including my nose, anti-tragus, navel, and forward helix. I don't know what changed in me, but one day I realized that the only piercings I had were my lobes and I figured what the hell, I'm 18 now and I can get something done. So I went in, and I was super scared but I did it and I loved to so much that after that I was constantly thinking about where to get another one, and how I would place it and how my two ears would look. One day I thought it was time for another piercing and decided that I wanted to get my daith done. I was a little short on cash, so I wanted to go somewhere relatively cheap and ended up finding this place that would do it for $40 bucks or something. Which was definitely my first mistake, but I also didn't even bother to read any reviews or anything.

Now this piercing place was nowhere near my house and it took me a good couple of hours to find it. When I got there that place looked a little sketchy but I was determined so I went ahead and started filling out a medical sheet. Then I met my piercer and he creeped me out a little bit, so I decided that I would go grab a bite to eat and come back after I had some sugar in my blood. On the way out I met the other dude working there and he was 10 times creepier! So I thought maybe it wasn't a good idea and left. A couple weeks later I read in the newspaper that the place got shut down for not being very hygienic.

Anyway, after that I vowed never to go somewhere not trustworthy because I was broke. I usually go to this studio down in down town kind of by the grocery and thai restaurant which is called The Art House, I love the place to much and my piercer is so friendly. Unfortunately they are rather expensive so I saved up some more money and went to another shop on 17th ave. I went in, and everything was going fine. She brought me into the room (and I had a friend with me for moral support- who also came to get her belly button pierced but couldn't cause she forget her id) and started explaining the procedure to me, what to expect and how to clean it afterwards and what not she also started cleaning the area and getting her needles and pliers out and such. When she went in for me piercing I felt an enormous amount of pressure and then felt blood streaming down my face and my neck. I thought that was normal because she said it could happen and I also read about it happening on the int ernet. So what seemed like another minute went by before she took away the pliers and told me to lie down. Blood was still running down my face, but now it was going into my ear.

A couple minutes later she tells me that she didn't complete the piercing because I was bleeding so much, and asked me if I was on blood thinners (which I wasn't). She said she had never seen anything like that happen during a piercing, especially on one like a daith which is mostly just cartilage. I sat there for quite a while feeling very nauseous but mostly unhappy. I was very excited to be getting the piercing done and it took me quite some time to work up the courage to get it done cause I thought it would hurt a lot! So I left the studio with a partial, sore hole in my cartilage and blood clogged in my ear so I couldn't hear anything- I had to go to the doctor to get my ear cleaned out but I went around for at least three days not being able to hear anything! Not fun at all.

After that I decided that maybe fate was going against me not to get it done. I mean the first place I went was really sketchy and I'm glad I didn't get it done there, and then the second place I go to kind of makes it worse and I don't end up getting it done. I figured maybe no more piercings for a long time. But now It's been a few months now and I actually feel like I could go try it again because I think it is a really cool looking piercing. So there is my story. All I have to say is don't let failed attempts deter you from the piercings you want!!! It will most likely work out the second or third time =)
