Let's start off with just a little background as to why I decided to get this done. I had a surface piercing on my sideburn on my left ear, which I got around September. It very quickly became one of my favourite piercings, but unfortunately, it was done with a bent barbell. I was very happy when months went by and there was no sign of rejection, until the last month or so when the barbell started showing instead of just the balls. I held onto it for as long as I could, but the other day I decided to take it out, as the scar tissue was becoming extremely painful, and overall it just looked very bad since only a small piece of skin was holding it in place.

Naturally, none of us like to lose piercings. Luckily for me, I already had a backup plan! I wanted a rook and a daith as soon as possible, to take the place of my sideburn. I quickly changed my mind and decided an industrial and a daith would be a better option for me. The first one I wanted was the industrial.

So, the very next day after my sideburn came out, me and my boyfriend took a little visit to the body jewelry stand in the mall, where I spent a while contemplating what colour barbell I wanted. I already had a lot of silver, so after listening to my boyfriend's advice, I purchased the 14g blue barbell which came to $20 with tax. We walked around the mall for a bit until we hopped back on another bus and made our way to Mind's Eye. Why did I decide to go there? It's defniitely the most expensive place in the city but I've been in there multiple times to ask the piercer for advice, and I've emailed them asking for advice as well, which never cost me anything so I figured I owed it to them. Since I already had the jewelry, the piercer said it was going to cost $50. Yes, a bit much when I know I could've gotten the whole procedure, jewelry included for probably $40 at the place I got my sideburn and many other piercings done, but I was slightly sour with that place after m y rejected piercing. I was told to wait in the waiting room and fill out the required sheet, which took all but five minutes.

So then, the procedure started. I have a double helix piercing in my right ear as well as an inner helix piercing in that ear, so I had an idea of how much it'd probably hurt. I actually heard these piercings hurt a lot so I probably hyped it up to be way worse than it actually was. So my boyfriend and I walked into the room, which use to be a former doctor's office (and saw the lovely Labyrinth poster which I want). She cleaned me, marked me, clamped the higher hole first, and put the needle through. My reaction? "That's actually it?". It did not hurt at all, and because she put the needle in so fast, I barely even felt it enter and exit. Simply a small pinch; far less pain than any other cartilege piercing I've ever had. She did the second hole just as fast as she did the first, but this one hurt quite a bit more, only, still not as much as any of my other ones. I got slightly concerned when I saw a lot of red blood dripping down onto my little bib, and abuot twent y Q-tips soaked in blood, but it's not like I haven't experienced bleeding before (my bridge, yeah, that was a fun one). After everything was all done, I went up to the front and gave her sixty dollars, and thanked her. As expensive as this piercing was, I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the place, as well as the people there. Megan made me feel at ease, and also asked me if I was still having problems with my other piercings, etc.

Overall I like the way my industrial looks. Worth eighty bucks? No, not really, but like I said, I felt like I should finally give this place some business, and also, its always nice to know that you're getting pierced somewhere that has a fantastic reputation for being clean (featured on TV shows and stuff as well for their professionalism).

The only sad part of my visit was being told I have to wait about six months to get my sideburn redone with a surface bar. Anyways, the healing has been decent so far thoguh it hasn't even been two days. Naturally it hurts to sleep on, but when I'm just sitting, I don't feel any burning sensations or anything! So don't listen to what people say when they say this is a painful piercing; yes, obviously it hurt a bit but it's NOTHING compared to say, septum piercings, or my hip surface peircings which make me cringe just thinking about 'em!
