Today I start at Safeway and for the past 2 weeks I have been thinking about what new piercing I could get instead of my other eyebrow being done, since Safeway doesn't like facial piercings. So I had narrowed it down to my right tragus and an inverse navel. I emailed my piercer and she said that was fine and she would be in the shop all day on Saturday.

My piercer and I are good friends, our sons play together and I'm at the shop quite a bit. So when I came in we talked for a while, I signed all my forms and put down what I was having done, and passed over my ID to be scanned. Claire went back and cleaned the room and got everything all ready. When she was done she called me back and my boyfriend and I went to the piercing room. I sat down in her pink chair and she started to describe to me what she would do during the piercing. She let me know that there would be some pressure and then the needle would come through and what she would do with the jewellery on insertion. I said OK and we got started.
Just before Claire started I told her that if I was going to get one done today I would get both done, for the lengthy healing time that I heard tragus' can have. I also asked if I could use a barbell for healing rather than a CBR and Claire said that was fine, and that she was surprised and glad I asked for that, since most people want CBR's at first. Once Claire got re-setup she asked me to turn my head. I did and she told me she was going to start putting the needle threw.
I didn't feel the needle go in and there was no pain at that point. I could hear the needle pushing in farther with a crunching noise that went through my head. That was probably the most disconcerting noise I have heard. There was an amazing amount of pressure, and I was glad Claire went through slowly. The needle was almost out and that was the only point during the piercing that actually hurt, but it was nothing compared to the other piercings I've gotten. When the needle was finally threw it pushed out and I could hear the skin 'poof' and I let out a sigh of relief that that was over with. Claire put in the barbell and the jewellery insertion was painless. I couldn't believe how thick that piece of cartilage was.Claire asked me if I was ready for the next side or if I wanted a break. I told her that I was good to go and wanted to get the other side done. The first tragus was such an easy piercing, just a slow one with a lot of pressure. The other side was the exact same and even after getting two piercings I was still feeling pretty fine. After my ears were cleaned up (the bled quite a bit) Claire let me look at my new piercings in the mirror and they looked great. Both were straight on each tragus and they were in line with each other.
My ears didn't exactly hurt, more like a pulsing and warming feeling. I told Claire I needed to have a smoke before I got my inverse navel done and went outside with my boyfriend. When we got back inside we went right back into the room after Claire had wiped down her chair and I lay right down.
I knew this one was going to hurt. Claire had done my standard navel, which had rejected, so I figured an inverse would hurt even more. Claire put on the clamps and they didn't hurt as much as it had with my standard navel. With my standard navel, I had a lot of scar tissue from being pregnant on my stomach above my navel. It was very thick on top of the skin. With my inverse it was all on the inside of my skin, and not visible. This piercing hurt, a lot. I could feel every time the needle was passing through scar tissue and regular tissue. The needle seemed to take forever to go all the way threw and I was very glad when it was over with. The jewellery insertion hurt a little bit but I attributed that to the fact that there was so much scar tissue inside my stomachs skin. Immediately after the jewellery was in I jumped up and took a look. I had been so sad when I had to take out my standard navel, seeing my inverse navel made me so happy. I had a giant smile on my face. I we nt to the front, showed my tattoo artist (another one of my friends, and Claire's husband) my new piercings and talked to them for a while.
Before I left I paid and left my tip and thanked Claire again. I was so happy with the 3 new piercings I had gotten. We got in the car and I couldn't stop looking in the vanity mirror the whole 20 minute ride back to my apartment. I still can't stop looking at them, and am so happy that I went through with getting all three of them.
