I just wanted to share my experience of having my tragus pierced to others, that may be scared or nervous. I had been thinking of having this piercing done for ages but was really scared, I kept thinking about all the things that could go wrong and what could happen. I was looking around a few shops in Burnley and saw there was a stall on the market doing piercings, so I thought I would go up and have a look. When I went on I saw the stall and it was so tiny and I just didn't feel safe having it done there. I just thought that piercings should be done somewhere thats clean and suitable. I wasn't really sure where to go as I was feeling really worried about the whole thing. I had seen so many people with the piercing and really wanted it. When I went into the studio I was greeted by a girl with black hair, who took me upstairs to talk to me about the piercing. I didn't even know the name of it, just told her my middle ear!!!! Her name was Victoria and she put me at ease straight away. She told me it was called the tragus piercing. She explained that it was a cartilage piercing and it would be done with a needle. At this point I was really nervous thinking that it was going to kill!! She told me she would numb it for me and that it was a really quick procedure. She told me how it was going to be done and that everything was clean. I had wanted it done for ages so I thought it was now or never.
She seemed like she knew exactly what she was talking about so I decided to go for it. I was given a form to fill out after she checked my age etc. The form asked for my details and some questions that were relevant to having a piercing, I was told that is is procedure. I was then shown the jewellery. I was shocked to see the selection that I could have. There was a small ring ( but I didn't want a ring) and there were these really cute small bars that had gem tops on them. She told me that all the jewellery used was titanium, which was best as it didn't contain any nickle. There were lots of different colours but because im quite a girly girl I decided to go for the plain diamond coloured crystal. I paid and bought some aftercare spray that Victoria recommended, then we went upstairs.
As I entered the room, I was amazed by how clean and perfect the room was.It was very clinical and made me feel so safe. There were some pictures of many piercings on the wall that looked far more scarier than mine!! I was asking lots of questions about the pictures and telling Victoria how scared I was. Victoria started by telling me all about the piercing, giving me all the aftercare and advice and listened to me for ages asking so many questions!!! She was so friendly and so good at her job, she made me feel so at ease. I watched her wash her hands, and put on gloves ready to mark my ear up. She asked me if I liked the position and if I was ready to go. By this time I was so relaxed I was ready. She showed me everything was coming out of sterillised packets and that everything was new.
I led down and closed my eyes.... all I felt was a little pressure and a bit of pulling but then thats it, it was done!!! Victoria talked to me all the way through it and I didn't even know she had done it! I thought it was going to take ages and ages to get the needle through. She sat me up and handed me the mirror. There it was... My beautiful shiny crystal in my ear. It looked so good!!!!
Now a week on and it looks really neat and just a little swollen, but no redness or problems. She said that if I ever had any worries just to go back to the studio and she would sort it for me. All my friends admire it and they can't wait to get theirs done. I just want to let people know that if they want it doing, they should go for it! It was so easy and I am so pleased I finally plucked up the courage to go. If you live anywhere near Burnley I would recommend Victoria at Zodiac. She really did a fantastic job.
