Okay, so it was a quiet Wednesday, and I really had nothing to do. So I went into my workplace, to see some friends and stuff, and I had the idea, to go and get a piercing. Lets skip back in time, shall we? I've known about the industrial piercing for quite a few years... about 5 years or so, so when I was about 14 or 15 and I first heard about it, and saw what it looked like, I truly was shocked and thought something along the lines of 'oh my god what the hell is that, whoever gets that is insane!'. Keeping in mind I was a little conservative 14/15 year old. When I turned 17 or so, I decided piercings were indeed pretty cool, and I was close to getting just a plan cartilage piercing, with just a single hole and a ring. But I backed out several times due to the fear of the pain.

It was then that I rediscovered the industrial. I have no idea why, but I fell in love with it. For weeks I would alter my reading glasses so one side of the frame would go over the top of my ear, so I could see what an industrial on me would look like, and I felt it looked pretty good!
So back to that faithful Wednesday. I was at my workplace with my good friend Mel, and I decided it was finally in order for me to get my first ever piercing, an industrial! So we left at about 11:30, to get food (we were recommended to get food before I got my piercing... I still truthfully have no idea why), and we finally headed along to the piercing place 'Vogue Body Piercing'. It was there that I met Lori, the head piercing owner person lady of the shop, and to put a long story short, at least a long story which would have gone on a completely different tangent from this current story, I was uber afraid and nervous and shocked, but Lori calmed me down which was good. Anyway, there were a couple of other people who had to get pierced before me, so whilst I was waiting I filled in some forms, and Lori showed me some piercing experiences which were pretty cool, yet quite frightening.. heh... So anyway, I must have asked like, 200 questions or something, but she managed to answer every single one.
So along came the piercing... we entered the surgery piercing thingy room, and she did this cool little speech thingy about how clean the stuff they use is, and how to clean my ear and... general stuff like that. I was now getting really quite nervous, and was considering backing out. She then drew pen lines on my ear, so we could decide which angle the industrial would go on...and after only 2 or so lines, we found the right angle. She then measured it properly with some kind of crazy science-fiction-esque tool, and sat me up on the bed.
I then went ballistic. I seriously was like, hyperventilating or something because I had no idea what was going to happen, or how much it was going to hurt. She pulled out a little pack of tools and stuff and told me to look over to my right. Now, I've read that they normally ask you to count to three, and to breathe in and exhale, and on the exhale, they put the needle through. Lori had a different tactic, I'm sure she doesn't use this on everyone but for me it was perfect. Because I was so nervous she just kinda as he quotes 'snuck up on him' hahaha. Which was a surprise. I felt the cold needle press against my ear, followed by a sharp pain. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was, after much....pressure and fiddling with my ear, about 20 seconds later she had finished. I thought she had only done the first hole, and still had to do the second hole, and the bar, and the tightening of the barbells. I was pleasantly surprised when she said that I was all done!
So she basically, put a cold thing on my ear which soothed it... and used some cotton to suck up the blood, and told me to sit up... I sat up and I felt a bit dizzy, which I am guessing were the endorphins or something. So I stood up and I felt like I was, really drunk or something and I almost fell over. Anyway, I walked over to the mirror, and there it was, my first ever piercing, and it looked AWESOME!
I thanked Lori multiple times, and hugged her too and then I went home, which was when I slept. I have no idea why, but the piercing made me tired. Anyway, as for the healing process, which many say is the worst part. It doesn't exactly hurt, not for me anyway, I mean... I can fiddle with it and stuff, and I bathe it in the shower every day with essential oils, and give it a salt water bath every day too. I've bumped it a few times and it does hurt momentarily then, but not that bad. A lot of people say its really hard to sleep on. It's not necessarily that it hurts, its just...uncomfortable, like there's something in the way and its pinching your ear slightly, so naturally I've slept mainly on the other side.
Overall, and to put this wonderful happy story to an end. I am so, SO glad I got this piercing done, and I have no idea why I backed out so many times before, whoever is thinking about getting it done. Seriously I wouldn't even think about the pain or whatever, its really not that bad. I mean sure it hurts, but as my good friend Mel said 'it's a little bit of pain, for a whole lot of pleasure and happiness!'
Cheerio
