Since I got my tongue pierced in September I discovered BME and began looking around at piercings that i didn't even know existed. During this search i spotted a rook piercing, read some experiences, saw some pics, and fell in love with it instantly. i had to have one. But there was one big problem. i'm in college and i have no job-I'm broke. so naturally i had to wait a while. maybe i would buy myself the piercing for xmas. As xmas break rolled around I figured I would get at least a little money from my parents for clothes or whatever. I was right. So I spent a little time at the mall and bought a few things then i spent a little time searching for the lucky piercer to do my rook (the guy who did my tongue lives 2 hours away). my cousin had gone to burning image to get her tongue done and she suggested it to me so i checked it out.
At A Glance Author amee16 Contact amee16@excite.com Artist craig Studio The Burning Image Location Portage, IN The first time i went in I asked the guy working if he would do or had ever done a rook piercing. he informed me that this was a more complicated piercing (which i knew) and that i should come back in when craig, who is more experienced, is working. (by the way, craig is the one who pierced my cousin) So I called the next day (thursday) and talked to craig. he said he would do it but they were too busy that day so i'd have to come in friday. I said "great!"
Friday comes along and I go over to burning image at about 2:30. Craig greets me, asks me a few questions to make sure he knows exactly what i want. I tell him i want a barbell, not a cbr. i read some stuff and sign some papers. Craig checks my ID.
Then he takes me back into his studio and sets up while i look around. I see a picture of his wife and baby on the wall and guess what... turns out Craig and I are related - well, by marriage. his wife is my cousin's cousin from the other side. we discuss this occurance while he gets the last few things set up.
he then tells me to lean forward towards him and he marks my ear. he tells me what he is going to do- he is going to put a clamp on then push the needle thru quickly, put a cork on the end, and then pull out the needle as he pushes in the jewelry. just what i was expecting.
so he procedes to put on the clamp, replacing it a few times to get it lined up perfect. meanwhile, i've got an intense, wonderful adrenaline rush building up. he gets the clamp in place which is quite uncomfortable. then he pushes the needle through from the bottom, quickly like he said it would be. a little pinch. then he put on the cork and removed the clamp- that relieved alot of the pressure- and pushed the jewelry in. all i couls feel really was that my ear was hot and then i noticed that i, myself was sweating. i hear him say "perfect" and i smile. he screws on the top ball of the barbell and tells me that it will be very difficult to change this jewelry and that he doesn't recommend that i do so. that 's ok with me.
i look in the mirror and i instantly love it. i can't stop smiling. as i gather my coat and purse he goes over some aftercare stuff and says that ear solution (like the stuff they give you at the mall) is a good thing to use.
we walk to the front of the place and i pay him. i'm totally high at this point. we talk about tattoos for a bit then i head for home. i hop in my car and hear NIN. i turn it way up and drive happily and excitedly home in pure heaven. i know i'm a dork but i felt so good to have gotten this done finally and, well getting pierced does make me feel somewhat euphoric.
it is now late in the day - you could say it's now saturday morning - and it feels great. a little sore and swollen but it really doesn't hurt. i cleaned it a little bit ago and that's kinda difficult. my friends think it's really cool- they've never seen anything like it before. i love it. now i just gotta remember to try to sleep carefully.
hopefully i'll have pics of my new rook up on my page soon.
br i'm amee16 if you'd like to see them. ;)
