I don't think this is what i asked for...

It was about a month ago at a tattoo shop called "big daddy's" located in Lomita. I have gone there several times before to my original tattoo artist who I absolutely love but he does not work there any more so I rarely go anymore. Well I really did not expect to get anything done for my self that day, I just wanted to tag along with everyone else to watch them. As I watched everyone else getting something, I of course had to get something too. I started out by thinking I am going to get something on my ... read more

Cow tipping lesbos with tattoos

My older sister, Paisley lived in an extremely small town in Maryland with her girlfriend. Every summer since I was twelve I made the great trip across the United States, from Arizona to Maryland. There was no theater in that town and thanks to the heavy religious influence there were no r-rated movies at the movie rental store. Going outside of the house was entertainment enough, all the locals would stop and stare like they never saw a pretty Puerto Rican/Irish girl with a purple Mohawk and unconventional piercings before. We were creative though and always spent our time doing ... read more

A Wish Come True, 13 Years in the Making

When I was about 8, I had an art instructor with a beautiful, simple sun with a moon inside tattooed in black ink on her ankle. I just loved it and started doodling the design over and over. I also decided that I wanted a tattoo like it one day. For the last three years, I have been contemplating the designs and placements of the different art I would like tattooed on me over the course of my life. I decided that I wanted my first tattoo to be the sun and moon on my chest. One day, after a ... read more

and it all went dark........................

Hello there. Let me introduce myself. My name is Rybes; I am from England, Great Yarmouth to be exact. I am 36 and for the last 12 years I have been hooked by the mysterious and addictive hobby of collecting tattoos and piercings. Although I have loads of stories about my tattoos and piercings, like passing out after 5 minutes of my first ever tattoo (ha got myself a great nickname that stuck with that one, but you will have to ask me nicely to tell you that one!) but this latest escapade well it would just be rude not ... read more

worst experience ever

The day before my seventeenth birthday, I decided I wanted to get a tattoo. My mom was totally against the idea of me getting a tattoo, so obviously she would not sign a parental consent form. So it was either wait another year to get something I always wanted or find a way to do it without my mom's consent. One of my mom's friends knew a guy who she said was a licensed tattoo artist. His name was Pollock. My mom's friend went with me to meet this guy. He seemed nice enough but there was something fishy about ... read more

Symbolism; engraved relics.

Deeply spiritual undertones are still rippling through me, an ocean of a girl who now feels one iota closer to her true form, even three years after this process. The past forty-eight hours after I received my tattoo were witnesses to an engagement of emotions that I chose to display in a rather toss and tumble, flux and flow sort of way. Describing them (and their origins) is just as easily predictable as it is complicated: nervousness, tension, excitement, pleasure, gratefulness, sincerity, relief. These words fall short of their true nature, diluting the heat and humble fierceness of their presence. ... read more

So I finally got the long, long awaited tattoo!

I guess you could say that I waited until I was very sure of what I wanted as far a tattoo goes. Actually I wanted a tattoo from the time I was 14 years old. If I had gotten one at 14, it would have been blueberries by my ankle. Yeah, I don't know why exactly I wanted blueberries, but I am sure that would have been it. I had told people as the time and they have asked every since if I finally had the blueberries. Well, no. So 40 years later I was finally ready to seal the ... read more

Not so much of déjà vu – Tattoo Fest 2008

It started with "oops" on my part! I was supposed to meet my tattoo artist and his friend, my travel companions to the third annual Tattoo Fest, on the Central Train Station in Poznan. 10 minutes before our train's departure we still haven't met yet and I was told over the phone that I probably was in the wrong place. Sure enough, it was my fault and, my blood heavy with "catch-the-train-or-not" adrenaline load, all I could say after meeting the guys on the right train platform was "oops, sorry!" Everything was slower and more relaxing than the previous year ... read more

my first tattoo (a rib piece)

When I was younger I never really thought about tattoos. I had been raised in a pretty strict family that was not that prone to anything out of the normal. I had one older cousin who was covered in tattoos and my parents always warned me about looking like him and having to wear long sleeves all the time because he had trouble finding jobs. When I was about 16 I started really taking an interest in body art. I never brought the issue up to my parents, because I knew that it would be shot down in an instant. ... read more
