My rib tattoo - the start of somethin' beautiful

After months of reading everyone else's experiences with their rib pieces I'm finally able to upload my own story. I started my oriental rib piece yesterday and survived the first session. I already have two tattoos. One across my shoulder blades on my upper back, and one small symbol on the base of my neck. Also being a fan of body piercing, I have three. Tongue, VCH and navel. So I wouldn't say I'm whimp when it comes to pain and once I have set my mind to wanting something, I'm not easily put off. I had done a lot ... read more

Memories and celebrations

When I first emigrated to the UK I came here with the intention to train to be a nurse. I managed just over 2 years of training before being asked to leave...but that's another story. During my first year of training I had my first tattoo done which was a little butterfly on my shoulder (I know, zero points for originality but I was ever so proud of it). For the next few years I bummed around not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life but was happy just trying out as much as possible. During this ... read more

In memory of a wonderful woman

For a long time I have been wanting to get a tattoo in memory of my Nan, something that would mean a lot to me. My Nan was the type of person who would love anyone no matter what, would treat my friends as if they were part of the family and never forgot anyone's birthday even if they weren't related to her. So for ages I had been thinking of a design, something that would fit, something that felt right. In the end I decided I wanted a horse as a part of the design because I always remember ... read more

First tattoo.

My first experience of getting tattooed was extremely pleasant and not as painful as I had anticipated. I have loved tattoos and body mod in general since I was a child and after having my septum, both nostrils, 4 surface piercings, multiple ear piercings, my lip, my tongue and navel pierced, I decided that it was time to move on to ink so on turning 18 I was thrilled to finally get my first tattoo. Having had years to think and plan what I wanted tattooed the decision processes wasn't as lengthily as I had thought. I decided to have ... read more

Finally

My tattoo has been a long thought out process which has probably taken about 10 years to finally come to fruition. The first dilemma was that I didn't think that I was the type of person that had have mod's done (something I got over that about 12 months ago by getting my hood pierced and followed that with my nose). The second dilemma was what to have tattooed. I have thought about this for what felt like forever and just could not come up with anything. I didn't want something that somebody else had. It had to be meaningful ... read more

Cherry Blossoms Cover-up

Earlier this week I went to Body Graphics in South Windsor, CT, and got a tattoo. I am totally excited about it, since it's been about 3 years since I last got tattooed. I found Body Graphics just doing an online search for local tattoo/body piercing places, and then checking out reviews. They had all great reviews from customers, and I definitely wanted to check them out. I had decided over the last few weeks that I wanted to cover my ankle stars. I had them done while I was living in Boston. I liked the idea of the stars, ... read more

Armpit tattoos- my most painful yet

Ever since I was a child I've wanted to be covered in tattoos. My mum had them, as did all her friends and I decided I wanted them too. In the summer when I wore vest tops I'd ask my mum to 'tattoo' me with felt tips. One year I had her cover my whole arm in flowers and I felt like the coolest person alive. I'd dabbled with piercings and had my hair various colours but it wasn't until my 18th birthday that I could fully embrace body modification. My dad is one of those conservative pricks who hates ... read more

Write your soul down, word for word

Take your head around the world See what you get From your mind Write your soul down word for word See who's your friend Who is kind From the age of 9 or so, I've fancied myself somewhat of a poet. Granted, I'm more of a hack and a wannabe than a Sylvia Plath, but I'm still a poet in my mind. Ever since I learned to read, I had been obsessed with writing - and as I got older, that obsession turned to song lyrics. In high school, I was browsing a used CD store and came across Yourself ... read more

I don't think this is what i asked for...

It was about a month ago at a tattoo shop called "big daddy's" located in Lomita. I have gone there several times before to my original tattoo artist who I absolutely love but he does not work there any more so I rarely go anymore. Well I really did not expect to get anything done for my self that day, I just wanted to tag along with everyone else to watch them. As I watched everyone else getting something, I of course had to get something too. I started out by thinking I am going to get something on my ... read more
