Advice on Facial Tattoos

Several years ago I had a symbol which I designed tattooed below my right eye, one of many tattoos which I've designed and had done but by far it is the one that people notice the most. The tattoo experience itself was a good one and not very painful but more than that I want to write about the different experiences related to living with facial tattoos. I remember the excitement leading up to getting my face tattooed as well as the anxiety involved with getting a tattoo that's going to be staring back at you in the mirror every ... read more

Third and not final tattoo - a great experience!

Last September, I started studying at the University of Nottingham and took a fairly large step into a world of responsibility and freedom. Being away from my parents, living by myself and taking care of myself was extremely invigorating and allowed me to enter a world which, up to this point, been off limits. I am of course, talking about the world of tattoos and body modifications in general. At the time of writing (August 2008), I have five tattoos: selecting which experience to chronicle first was difficult but I eventually decided on my third tattoo – a nautical star ... read more

My first tattoo

Ok, so I had been wanting to get a tattoo for a very, very long time. My husband was totally opposed to the idea, so I hadn't done it. A few years ago, my sister-in-law (who has multiple tats) and I had been talking about it, and we decided that we would just go look at some flash. We told our husbands that we were going to go rent a carpet cleaner, and we left. The place that my sister-in-law usually went was closed. It took a while to find a shop that was open. The only shop that we ... read more

tattoo correction

I had previously gotten a tattoo on the inside of my forearm below the elbow in 2001. It was the lettering for light and life in greek (zoh pos) intersecting and it was done VERY poorly. The inking of the letters was godawful, crooked, uneven, shakey, not filled in well, et cetera...and when I said something about it the artist went back through and just dug it in deaeper. It scarred like you wouldn't believe. I had big raised scars and the ink was completly uneven in shade. It was a ridiculously bad tattoo. I had gotten another tattoo there ... read more

My first tattoo

I've wanted a tattoo for about a year but didn't want to rush into anything as obviously you're stuck with it for life unless you want to go through a lengthy and costly laser removal procedure. So, firstly I decided on the design. I wanted the word 'spero' which is Latin for hope on the inside of my wrist. The word was symbolic as it links to my nan who gave me the hope to carry on going through tough times in my life, as well as being right next to the large vein on your wrist which relates to ... read more

Laser Tattoo Removal

I never thought I would end up getting laser removal ever...but its looks like I have! About a year ago I got a piece done on my wrist which at the time I really liked and don't get me wrong I still do. It's not an amazing piece just a bit of script on my wrist with my initials which was done in black ink. Two months ago I had a piece done on my forearm by Pawel in Tattoo UK. It was a tattoo I had done for my sister of theatre masks and some roses and I was ... read more

Beijing Ink

As we all know, China is a rapidly modernizing and developing country and the (mainly young) people are taking up western trends enthusiastically. Tattooing in China is unsurprisingly an underground thing, like it is in the west, but the number of tattooists around the capital, Beijing, is surprising. I had originally gone to Beijing to study, and whilst there, I was constantly thinking about tattooing and various ideas, as I usually do. My flatmate had decided that he wanted to get his first work (he ended up with a half-sleeve of a dragon) and he trawled through the streets of ... read more

Ouroboros - My first tattoo.

So, recently I was vacationing in Portugal, it was the 4th year we had visited there, and every time I visit, I get a mod to come home with! The mods that I've got over there in the past have been piercings, but this year, I wanted something totally different. I've been thinking of getting inked for a while, but over here in Britain the legal age requirement is 18, or you can get it done in an unclean, dirty, unprofessional place where they don't give a damn. Lucky for me, the age in portugal is 16! So I decided ... read more

My Very First Tattoo!!

Wow this was a crazy experience. A while back when I turned 21 I wanted a tattoo then, chickened out though. Now I was just waiting for the right moment. I mean money was an issue, and I do have to say I was a little scared about what it would feel like. I've gotten so many different people telling me so many experiences they had, so I didn't know who if anyone of them I should listen to. In the end, I listened to myself, and just went. Yesterday I walked into the tattoo shop and was just asking ... read more

My Back-piece. A tattoo that really means something to me.

There was a time when I weighed 305 pounds. This really wasn't, when put into perspective of how many years I have lived, that long ago.... Just 2 and a half years. I now weigh 160 pounds. Anybody, looking at me now, would never suspect it unless they knew me before. I was miserable at that weight, and terribly unhealthy. I had to do something. So, after a great deal of thought, I decided to go under the knife. I had a Gastric Bypass procedure. This is really not the place to debate the Pros and Cons of this controversial ... read more
