I've wanted a tattoo for about a year but didn't want to rush into anything as obviously you're stuck with it for life unless you want to go through a lengthy and costly laser removal procedure. So, firstly I decided on the design. I wanted the word 'spero' which is Latin for hope on the inside of my wrist. The word was symbolic as it links to my nan who gave me the hope to carry on going through tough times in my life, as well as being right next to the large vein on your wrist which relates to ...

I never thought I would end up getting laser removal ever...but its looks like I have! About a year ago I got a piece done on my wrist which at the time I really liked and don't get me wrong I still do. It's not an amazing piece just a bit of script on my wrist with my initials which was done in black ink. Two months ago I had a piece done on my forearm by Pawel in Tattoo UK. It was a tattoo I had done for my sister of theatre masks and some roses and I was ...

So, rewind. Take a step back. I'm three years old hitting on pots and pans and pretending they're drums and I'm in a parade. I'm the main act, and I'm amazing. Take a step forward, and I want to be a rock star, and I go around singing everything. Now I'm seven, and I pick up my first actual musical instrument- a guitar. Not to say I was good, but I fell in love. Then I'm ten, excelling at playing the recorder. Another step, and I'm twelve, my first year of middle school, and I find the clarinet. Then the ...

Well, like most people here, I had been thinking of getting a tattoo for years before I got one. I'm normally in London and there's a hell of a lot of interesting tattoos about (on people, that is) as well as a hell of a lotta nice tattoo shops (Lal Hardy comes to mind as one of the best). I decided I wanted a tattoo as well but I had no idea what I wanted. The main consideration for me was whether a tattoo should mean something or should just look pretty for its own sake. Moving on, 3 years ...

It all started one day at work. My good friend Tia (who I work with) had found out that I had recently started my tattoo apprenticeship under Nathan Chapman at Bzzt! Tattoos. Now Tia is a pretty big fan of The Beatles, and by pretty big I mean extremely huge fan, but I was still skeptical when she told me her idea. "Kelsey" she said "we've been friends for a long time and you are the only person I would be comfortable with doing this tattoo...I want you to tattoo the yellow submarine on my butt." Wow, now there's something ...

About a year ago, I moved halfway across the country for school. This move marked the first time I had ever been away from home (my family) for more than a month. I was excited and scared and everything in between to get on with this new adventure in my life. I knew that I would be lonely (because while a few of my friends were moving to my state...they were still 4 hours away in Houston), so I decided to get a puppy. A friend from Dallas, still 4 hours away, happened to have some miniature dachshund puppies available, ...

So, recently I was vacationing in Portugal, it was the 4th year we had visited there, and every time I visit, I get a mod to come home with! The mods that I've got over there in the past have been piercings, but this year, I wanted something totally different. I've been thinking of getting inked for a while, but over here in Britain the legal age requirement is 18, or you can get it done in an unclean, dirty, unprofessional place where they don't give a damn. Lucky for me, the age in portugal is 16! So I decided ...

Wow this was a crazy experience. A while back when I turned 21 I wanted a tattoo then, chickened out though. Now I was just waiting for the right moment. I mean money was an issue, and I do have to say I was a little scared about what it would feel like. I've gotten so many different people telling me so many experiences they had, so I didn't know who if anyone of them I should listen to. In the end, I listened to myself, and just went. Yesterday I walked into the tattoo shop and was just asking ...

There was a time when I weighed 305 pounds. This really wasn't, when put into perspective of how many years I have lived, that long ago.... Just 2 and a half years. I now weigh 160 pounds. Anybody, looking at me now, would never suspect it unless they knew me before. I was miserable at that weight, and terribly unhealthy. I had to do something. So, after a great deal of thought, I decided to go under the knife. I had a Gastric Bypass procedure. This is really not the place to debate the Pros and Cons of this controversial ...

I'm writing this primarily for people like me, who don't have much experience of tattooing and don't really know how to ask for what they want. Before I had my latest tattoo I spent ages reading through forums and blogs on the internet trying to make sure I wasn't going to make a fool out of myself by asking the wrong thing in a tattoo studio. I'm not sure if anyone else finds it as intimidating as I do? Maybe it's just me, but I'm very conscious of the fact that i look very conservative, and am totally unfamiliar with ...
